Academician Sergey Vladimirovich ABLAMEYKO

Sergey Vladimirovich Ablameyko (born 24.09.1956, Voronovo township, Grodno Region, Belarus), mathematician. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2009, Corresponding Member since 2004), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (1990), Professor (1992). Academician of the International Academy of Sciences on Information, Information Processes and Technologies (1995), the Belarusian Engineering Academy (1995), Academia Europaea (2011).

Prof.Ablameyko graduated from Belarusian State University (1978). Since 1978, he worked at the Institute of Engineering Cybernetics of the BSSR Academy of Sciences (since 2002, renamed into the NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems) as trainee, junior researcher, senior researcher, since 1986 he was head of image processing and recognition laboratory, since 1998 Deputy Director, from 2002 to 2008 Director General. In 2005 he became Academician-Secretary of NASB Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics, in 1989 Professor of Belarusian State University. In 1999 he was appointed scientific secretary, in 2002 Deputy Chairman of the National Council for Space of the Republic of Belarus. Since 2008, Prof. Ablameyko has served as Rector of Belarusian State University.

Prof. Ablameyko focuses on research in the field of image processing and pattern recognition. He has developed the theory, methods and algorithms for processing and recognition of graphic images, principles and methodology for creation of automated imaging systems. Under his leadership a number of specific automated systems for processing graphics with applications in cartography, studies of the earth's surface, medicine, engineering and instrumentation have been created.

His publications include more than 350 scientific works, among them 13 monographs.

State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in 2002, Belarus Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1990, Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Russian Academy of Science in 2009, Prizes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 1998 and 2007.

Awarded with the Order of Friendship (2009, Russian Federation), Francysk Skaryna Medal (2007).
