ASTAPOVICH Natalia Ivanovna

Natalia Ivanovna Astapovich (14.04.1940, Orsha, Vitebsk region – 24.07.2005), a scientist in the field of physiology and biochemistry of microorganisms. Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1996), Doctor of Biological Sciences (1990), Professor (1999).

Research on the secretion of proteins in microorganisms. Substantiated new approaches to the determination of secretory enzymes with regard to their localization, the possibility of directional regulation of this process. The multiple effects of carbon sources on the production of export proteins by microorganisms have been studied. A priority in the study of the regulatory mechanism of catabolite inactivation of secretory proteins, the role of the cell wall in the formation of exoenzymes. He is one of the organizers of the collection of microorganisms of the Institute. The results of fundamental research were the basis for the creation of a number of biological products for agriculture and food industry.

Author of over 190 scientific papers, incl. 4 monographs.

Awarded with medals.
