LAZARUK Mikhail Arsenyevich

Mikhail Arsenyevich Lazaruk (05.07.1926, v. Ushalovichi, Slutsk district, Minsk region – 15.11.2000), literary critic and teacher. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1995), Academician of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR (1982). Doctor of Philological Sciences (1970), Professor (1971). Member of the Great Patriotic War.

Author of research on the history of the development of Belarusian literature "Stanaŭlenne belaruskay paemy" (1968), "Belaruskaya paema ŭ drugoy palavine XIX - pachatku XX stagoddzya" (1970); on the problems of teaching literature in the school "Teoryya litaratury ŭ shkole" (2nd ed., 1971), "Navuchanne i vykhavanne tvorchastsyu" (1994); on the history of pedagogical thought in Belarus "Asveta i pedagagichnaya dumka ŭ Belarusi: Sa starazhytnykh chasoŭ da 1917 g." (1985, et al.) and others. Author and co-author of textbooks on Belarusian literature for secondary schools, on the theory and history of literature for the philological faculties of higher educational institutions.

Awarded with the Order of the Red Star (1945), the Labor Red Banner (1975), World War of the II degree (1985), the Francisk Skaryna Medal (1997), and other medals.
