Meeting of Interdepartmental Coordinating Council on Nutrition to be held on 14 February 2019
On 14 February 2019 (Thursday), at 3.00 p.m., a meeting of the Interdepartmental Coordinating Council on Nutrition under the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will be held at the NASB Presidium (Minsk, pr. Niezaliežnasci, 66, room 216). The meeting will be attended by members of the Council, the leadership of the NAS of Belarus, well-known scientists, representatives of the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Health, Belarusian state food industry concern, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, and universities.
Presentation of book “In the shadow of castles and palaces” by Boris Lazuko takes place within 26th Minsk International Book Fair
A presentation of a book “In the shadow of castles and palaces” by Boris Lazuko, head of the Department of the Ancient Belarusian Culture at the the Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore that is the branch of the NASB Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research, took place within the 26th Minsk International Book Fair. The book was published in the Belarus Publishing House in 2018. The book deals with the material culture of the Belarusian social elite, which has not been the subject of special research until now. The book presents the material in the chronological principle. This made it possible to consider the traditions of the Belarusian aristocracy’s life, the pattern of development of the domestic arts and crafts in conjunction with the common European historical and cultural processes. The book describes in detail the interior of estates and palaces, each element of which is a separate work of art. This is the most complete collection with detailed illustrations and detailed descriptions. The book is intended for a wide audience. A string trio performed classical music at the presentation.
Delegation from Great Stone Industrial Park visits National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
A delegation from the Great Stone Industrial Park headed by the Deputy General Director Mr. Xu Baomin visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. During the negotiations with Sergey Chizhik, First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium, the parties discussed the construction of the Chinese-Belarusian Innovation Commercialization Center. In this regard, the Belarusian side proposed to organize a meeting with the Chinese delegation at the Great Stone Industrial Park. At the same time, it is planned to discuss in detail the mechanisms for creating joint laboratories at the Innovation Commercialization Center.
Eleventh International Conference of Working Group on Waders of Northern Eurasia "Actual issues of wader studies in the Northern Eurasia" takes place
From 30 January to 2 February 2019, the 11th international conference of Working Group on Waders of Northern Eurasia "Actual issues of wader studies in Northern Eurasia" took place in the biological faculty of the Belarusian state University with the financial support of the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research. The NASB Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Public Organization “Akhova Ptushak Batskaushchyny” participated in the conference. Belarusian and foreign scholars and representatives of environmental organizations discussed the issues of ecology, migration, number and species diversity, behavior, morphology and protection of waders.
Representatives of NASB Institute of Philosophy to take part in seminar on designing future and horizons of digital reality in Moscow
The scientific and practical seminar "Designing the future and horizons of digital reality" will be held in the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation on 7-8 February 2019 supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus.
The seminar will discuss the results of joint research projects of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Belarusian Foundation for Fundamental Research carried out at the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The projects covered a wide range of issues: the economy of the digital world, educational robotics, the art of the new era, new transport systems, people of the digital era and other scientific problems the Union State scientists facing. The joint work of humanitarians, mathematicians and teachers will develop a deep, holistic view of the future.
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus discusses Union State Programs implementation
On 31 January 2019, the NAS of Belarus hosted a meeting with the Belarusian representatives of the government customers of the Union State programs and events in the areas of defense, security, law enforcement, military-technical cooperation and defense industry. Grigory Rapota, the State Secretary of the Union State, took part in the meeting.
Presidium of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus holds meeting with academicians
On 31 January 2019, according to the established tradition, the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus held a meeting with academicians, where some preliminary results of the NASB scientific work were announced, and various awards were presented.
Academician Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, welcomed the participants of the meeting. He also made a short historical excursion on the development of science in our country, mentioned the most vivid names and events.
State Secretary of Union State presents his Acknowledgment to research fellow from NASB Institute of Philosophy
On 31 January 2019, the State Secretary of the Union State presented the Acknowledgment to Petr Petrovsky, the research fellow at the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus.
The scientist was awarded for his significant contribution to the strengthening of relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the Union State and active work on the development of scientific and expert diplomacy.
Press conference "Belarus: the historical memory of generations and a look into the future" takes place
On 29 January 2019, a press conference "Belarus: the historical memory of generations and a look into the future" took place at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. The Petrus Brovka Belarusian Encyclopedia Publishing House presented new editions at the press event. Scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus took part in composing the following books: encyclopedia “Yanka Kupala” in 3 volumes, illustrated encyclopedia “Museums of Belarus”, and a book of the series “Belarus. Tragedy and the Truth of Memory" devoted to Khatyn and Trostinets.
In honor of Belarusian Science Day, polar explorers raise flag of Republic of Belarus and flag of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in Antarctica

The implementation of a project of this level is possible only for a country that has a hardworking and friendly people, a reliable scientific foundation and the will to win!
Press conference on priority areas for developing scientific research in 2019 takes place
On 24 January 2019, a press conference on priority areas for developing scientific research in 2019 took place in the Press Center of the Press House. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was represented by Academician Alexander Kilchevsky, Chief Scientific Secretary of the NASB Presidium.
As Alexander Kilchevsky told, the NAS of Belarus, based on existing developments, plans to continue in 2019 the development of research and innovation work in the most world important areas: IT-sphere, space research, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, pharmaceutical technologies corresponding to the V-VI technological structure, new materials with a set of useful properties, agricultural technologies of a new generation, the humanitarian sphere and a number of others.

On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus I congratulate the scientists of our country and everyone for whom science is their lifework on the professional holiday - the Day of Belarusian Science!
The past anniversary year for the NAS of Belarus was a logical follow-up of the Year of Science. We started implementing the Strategy "Science and Technology: 2018-2040", formed new research areas, including the Union State projects, sought and found partners abroad. Our work was focused on the priority areas of development of the country, aimed at ensuring active interaction of academic, university and industry science, active cooperation of science, education and production. The Academy of Sciences worked directly with many ministries and departments.

Press conference dedicated to Belarusian Science Day takes place
On 23 January 2019, a press conference entitled “Achievements of Belarusian science in building a knowledge-based economy”, timed to the Day of Belarusian Science, took place at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was represented by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, and Andrei Ivanets, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
Vladimir Gusakov told journalists about Belarusian research priority (aerospace, biotechnology, nanomaterials, mechanical engineering, electric transport, Antarctic research, pharmaceuticals), the cooperation of scientists with leading industrial organizations of the country, and the overall dynamics of the largest research center of the Republic of Belarus.
