Presentation of popular science book "Aggressive Plants. Invasive Species in Belarus" to be held on October 17

13.10.2017 On 17 October 2017, at 5:00 p.m., the V.F.Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the NAS of Belarus and the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus will present a popular science book "Aggressive Plants. Invasive Species in Belarus", published in July 2017.

The main invasive plant species found on the territory of our country are listed and described in alphabetical order in the book. Some of them are recognized as dangerous in Europe. The essays show the scientific and popular names of these species, information about their biology, ecology, origin, as well as specific recommendations for limiting the number and destruction of aggressive plants. This is the first reference book of such kind on vascular plants of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the event, the library will organize an exhibition of books and articles devoted to the problem of study of invasive plant species prevalent in Belarus and other countries. Other publications of the book authors and the publications of the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the NAS of Belarus for the last few years will be presented at the exhibition.
