On May 12-13, 2016 International scientific and practical conference "Results of Archaeological Research on the Territory of Belarus in 2015" is held at the Institute of History of NAS of Belarus
On May 12-13, 2016 the International scientific and practical conference "Results of Archaeological Research on the Territory of Belarus in 2015" was held at the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus. The conference was attended by Belarusian and foreign scientists from Russia and Ukraine.
The Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Vadim L. Lakiza presented the report on the review of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the field of protection of the archaeological heritage, as well as the changes aimed at combating the illegal search of archaeological artifacts and selling them. The report had been discussed by scientists in connection with the adoption of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus №485 dated 14 December 2015.
Joint IX International water-chemical forum to be held on 17-19 May 2016
On May 17-19, 2016 State Scientific Institution “The Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus” jointly with the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” and D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia hold the joint IX International water-chemical forum. The forum will feature presentations by leading scientists and experts from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Germany in the field of the newest areas of water treatment, the state and prospects of membrane technologies, implementation and operation experience of integrated technologies in the Russian energy sector and others.
I International Congress of Cardiology and Therapeutists begins work at NAS of Belarus
On May 12, 2016 the First International Congress of Cardiologists and Internists started working on the basis of the NAS of Belarus. The Congress brings together leading experts in the field of cardiology and therapy from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Opening the First International Congress of Cardiologists and Internists the Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Zharko noted the success of Belarusian doctors in cardiology. "212 heart transplants have been done in the country since 2009. By the number of heart transplants we are in ninth place in the world”, said Vasily Zharko.
A Protocol following the visit of the President of Turkmen Academy of Sciences to National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was signed
On May 10, 2016 the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Meret H. Ashirbayev visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. During the visit the talks between the President of the AST and the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir G. Gusakov were held. The Chairman of the NASB Presidium informed the guest about the priority directions of the activity of the NASB organizations and highlighted the most promising areas for joint research and production activities. The President of the AST Meret Ashirbayev informed the Belarusian side about the priority directions of the activity of the AST organizations and proposed a number of promising areas for collaboration.
I International Congress of Cardiologists and Therapeutists to be held on basis of NAS of Belarus on 12-13 May 2016
The event is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Department of Medical Sciences of the NAS of Belarus, Department of Cardiology and Internal Diseases of EE "Belarusian State Medical University". Leading experts from the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Canada, Sweden, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will make presentations at the forum. Leading physicians of our country, foreign experts, professors of educational institutions that provide health care to patients of therapeutic profile and training of general practitioners will discuss modern diagnostic and treatment possibilities and advances in cardiology, interdisciplinary problems in therapeutic practice, and the prospects for health system development in the Republic of Belarus. In addition to the plenary and breakout sessions presentations of young scientists and poster sessions are scheduled at the Congress.
International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture completes the work at NAS of Belarus
On the 6th of May the First International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture which brought together more than 330 scientists from 11 countries completes the work. Among the participants 65 scientists are from other countries: Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, the USA, Great Britain, Slovenia, Austria, Vietnam and China. The Congress was intended to raise the level of scientific discussion of the problems of Belarusian culture development, the preservation of national cultural heritage, language, literature and art in the context of globalization. Scientists discussed the development and functioning of the Belarusian language in the context of bilingualism, the problems of Belarusian architecture and design, fine and decorative arts, monumental art, cinematographic and video arts, musical art, theater, literature, historical and cultural heritage and many other problems of the Belarusian culture. The organizers of large-scale event are the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; State Scientific Institution "The Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Science of Belarus" and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

Dear veterans, dear colleagues!
On behalf of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and myself I congratulate you on the sacred holiday for the Belarusian people — Victory Day!
In May of 1945 the first volleys in honor of the defeat of fascism and end of the Great Patriotic War have sounded. Since then the Great Victory is considered to be the most precious and bright holiday in which joy and sorrow came together, because the war took someone almost from every Belarusian family.
President of Republic of Belarus presents state awards
On May 5, 2016 the President of the Republic of Belarus presented state awards to figures of science, culture, health care, public administration, law enforcement bodies. At the ceremony Alexander Lukashenko reiterated that wonderful people protecting the native land and glorifying the young sovereign state by their deeds are the main treasure of Belarus. The Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics of the NAS of Belarus Valentin Orlovich was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in Science. The Director of the UE "Geoinformation systems" Sergey Zolotoy was awarded the Medal of Francysk Skaryna.
Two books to be presented in Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library on Day of Yanka Maur Birth
On May 11, 2016 on the day of Yanka Maur birth at 16.00 pm a presentation of the books "Yanka Maur. Favorites" and "Long Way from Yanka Maur to Yakub Kolas house" by Natalia Mickiewicz, the youngest daughter of Ya.Maur and daughter-in-law of Yakub Kolas, will take place in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus (Surganov str., 15, exhibition center, room 110).
The event was organized by Yanka Maur and Yakub Kolas descendants and the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus.

NASB organizations are actively involved in Belarusian Industrial Forum 2016
On May 3-6, 2016 Belarusian Industrial Forum hosts in Minsk. The forum was attended by leading representatives of all sectors of domestic and foreign industry, including a number of NASB organizations. Belarusian Industrial Forum is a large-scale international exhibition project, which promotes innovative activity of organizations of all forms of ownership, strengthening relations between science and production, commercialization of the results. The NASB organizations had become as co-organizers of several scientific and practical activities of the Forum: the breakout session "Welding and Related Technologies"; the 13th international contest of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies and equipment etc.
Meeting of scientific and technical council on additive manufacturing to be held at NAS of Belarus
On May 12 (Thursday), 2016 at 10.00 am a meeting of scientific and technical council on additive manufacturing and at 14.00 pm the Sixth Scientific and Production Seminar «3D-printers: prospects of application and development" will be held in the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Nezavisimosti Ave., 66, room 218). The seminar will be attended by representatives of the NASB scientific organizations, the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus (Gosstandart), higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, industrial enterprises and design organizations. From the Russian side representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Interdisciplinary Engineering Center of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin are expected to arrive.
First International Grain Forum to be held at Scientific and Practical Center of NASB for Arable Farming
On May 4, 2016 (Wednesday) at 9.00 am the opening of the First International Grain Forum with the participation of EU representatives, scientific and industrial organizations of the Republic of Belarus will take place at the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus for Arable Farming" (Zhodino, Timiryazev str., 1).
The two-day forum will be held on the basis of RUE "Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus for Arable Farming" under the auspices of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus. The event will be attended by more than 100 domestic and foreign experts in the field of breeding, seed production and processing of grain, the release of bread and bakery products.
VI International Training Seminar on Forest Ecosystems in Specially Protected Natural Areas to be held at the V.F.Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany
On May 16-22, 2016 SSI "The V.F.Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the NAS of Belarus" jointly with the relevant leading universities of Belarus and Russia holds the VI International Training seminar on "Dynamics, state and monitoring of forest ecosystems in specially protected natural areas" for students, undergraduates, graduate students and teachers of the specialty "Forestry". The seminar devoted to the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May).
The purpose of the seminar is strengthening relations, development and expansion the relationship between students and teachers of the specialty "Forestry" from leading universities and academies of sciences of Belarus and Russia through scientific cooperation for the exchange of experience to facilitate the learning process and the practical implementation of scientific development in priority areas of mutual interest.
Book "Grounds for cultural sociology" of Vladimir L. Abushenko is presented
On April 29, 2016 the book of Belarusian sociologist and philosopher Vladimir L. Abushenko "Grounds for cultural sociology: Selected works" was presented in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The presentation was attended by the staff of the Institute of Sociology, representatives of the Department of Sociology of BSU and Economic Sociology of BSEU, colleagues and relatives, students and undergraduates.
Songs of abandoned villages sounds in publication of Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of NAS of Belarus
The book "Songs of the abandoned villages" was published on the Eve of the 30th Chernobyl disaster anniversary in publishing ALC "Belovagroup". The book was prepared along with the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It opens forgotten cultural heritage of sacred sound for a wide range of readers.
Archive materials presented in the book is a unique outstanding song heritage which is published for the first time. Songs were recorded and collected at different times before Chernobyl disaster in the villages that no longer exist (Braginsky, Yelsky, Narovlyansky, Khoiniksky districts).
Updated Board of Honour of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is opened
On April 29, 2016 the ceremonial opening of the updated Board of Honour of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus took place.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Bureau of the NASB Presidium from 04.04.2016 № 157 9 organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus were recognized as winners and listed on the Board of Honour of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for achievement the best results in scientific, scientific and technical, innovative and production activities in 2015.
Round table on «Development of biologically active additives, medicines and sports nutrition based on lactoferrin obtained from transgenic animals» is held at NAS of Belarus
On April 28, 2016 a Round table on the theme "Development of biologically active additives, medicines and sports nutrition based on lactoferrin obtained from transgenic animals» was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event was organized by SSI "The Institute of Physiology of the NAS of Belarus." The Round table was attended by the leadership of the NAS of Belarus, scientists and specialists from organizations of the Department of Agrarian Sciences, the Department of Medical Sciences, the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences, the Department of Biological Sciences, representatives of medical institutions as well as enterprises of the pharmaceutical industry of the country.
NAS of Belarus representatives take part in meeting of General Assembly of European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA)
On April 18-19, 2016 the annual General Assembly meeting of the European Federation of Academies of Sciences and Humanities (ALLEA) held in Vienna. The NAS of Belarus was represented at the event by a delegation consisting of the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NASB Presidium Aleksandr V. Kilchevskiy and the Division Head of the Department of International Cooperation of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir V. Podkopaev. The meeting was organized on the basis of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
During the event the NASB delegation met with the leadership of the ALLEA — President Günter Stock, Vice President Ed Noort and Executive Director Mathias Johansen to discuss in detail the course of the organization ALLEA Council meeting in Minsk on June 20-21, 2016 and its program.

International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Сulture to be held on 5–6 May 2016 at National Academy of Science of Belarus
On May 5-6, 2016 more than 300 researchers, scientists and experts in cultural studies, history, ethnography, linguistics and literature studies from around the world: Russia, Ukraine, the USA, Great Britain, Austria, Japan, Iran, Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia and Belarus will meet at the NAS of Belarus to take part at the I International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture. The organizers of large-scale event are the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; State Scientific Institution "The Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Science of Belarus" and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.
The main objective of the International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture is to preserve historical and cultural heritage of the Belarusian people, to make the scientific analysis of the current state of the national culture. The forum aims to contribute to the development of the national culture in the humanities and social sciences both in Belarus and abroad, and enhance international cooperation among scientists from different countries.
