On 9 February 2018, a delegation from China led by Mr. Zhao Shiyu, the head of Administrative Committee of Qingdao city, Shandong province, international economic cooperation zone, visited the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus.
Scientists of the Institute presented to the members of the Chinese delegation scientific developments in mechanical engineering, production of new competitive models of automotive, tractor, agricultural, municipal machinery and their components, engineering materials and technologies.
Of special interest for the Chinese partners was work in the field of surface engineering of aluminum alloys and unique technology for creating composite materials with different structures and purposes, including technologies for aviation equipment, as well as system the vibration control system of reducers for automotive equipment. According to Mr. Zhao Shiyu, today dynamic Qingdao city needs energy-efficient, environmentally friendly municipal equipment. Therefore, the Qingdao city hall is ready to consider an issue of acquisition of the small-sized municipal vehicle developed by the Institute with access to mass production.
Following the visit, a tripartite Memorandum was signed between between the Administrative Committee of the international economic cooperation zone of Qingdao City Hall, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus and Easy Best (Beijing) Fund Management Company Limited.
The parties agreed to establish in the near future a joint scientific and technical center in Qingdao, the competence of which will be:
- Testing and implementation of the Institute's developments in the field of surface and component engineering for electric vehicles;
- Joint production of plastic lubricants with the specified characteristics;
- Training of highly qualified personnel in postgraduate and doctoral studies in the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus;
- Exchange of specialists, students and postgraduates.
The delegation offered to finance the establishment and operation of the joint scientific and technical centre.
