The agreement provides for the expansion and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between scientific institutions, exchange of scientists and specialists, participation in international forums, exchange of scientific information, and other forms of cooperation.
Before signing the agreement, Vladimir Gusakov noted that the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia was close to the Belarusian Academy, as it had a similar structure. According to him, Mongolia is a rapidly developing country today, which strives to establish broad international relations, including in the field of science and technology. Several institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are already carrying out joint projects with the Mongolian side. Therefore, the signing of the agreement aims to contribute to the expansion of further cooperation between the two academies.
Duger Regdel emphasized that his visit to Minsk was the first international visit after his election to the post of the Academy President. He told about the history and structure of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences, which was created as a Scientific Committee of Mongolia in 1921. In 1961, it became the Academy of Sciences of the country. To date, the Academy has got 10 research institutes, six of them work in the field of natural sciences, and four – in social sciences and humanities. The staff of the Academy includes about 900 researchers. The President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences noted that the delegation had already got acquainted with the work of a number of organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and was particularly impressed with the experience of transferring knowledge and scientific achievements for practical application in production.
The delegation will stay in Minsk until May 25, 2017.
