National Academy of Sciences of Belarus welcomes electric marathon

On 3 June 2019, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus will host the participants of the Electric Marathon 2019 World Rally for the Andrei Nagel Cup trophy.

On 27 May, electric vehicles started the 4300-kilometer-long marathon-rally from Monte Carlo (Principality of Monaco). This year’s marathon will pass through ten countries: Monaco–France–Italy–San Marino–Croatia–Hungary–Slovakia–Poland–Belarus–Russia. On 6 June, competitors will arrive at St. Petersburg that is the final point of the Electric Marathon. On June 2, electric vehicles will cross the Belarusian-Polish border, visit Brest, Mir and arrive in Minsk.

On 3 June, at 10.00, the marathon’s participants will arrive at the Republican test site for mobile machines of the NASB Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering to take part in the solemn ceremony meeting. Foreign guests will visit the exhibition of electric vehicles of Belarusian production, learn about research areas, material, and technical equipment of the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus, as well as R&D efforts of Belarusian scientists in the field of electric transport (meeting plan attached). It is planned electric vehicles created at the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering of the NAS of Belarus to become unofficial race participants and follow the roads of Belarus with numbers of the marathon's participants.

For reference. The mission declared by the Electric Marathon 2019 World Rally is to attract attention of European and world's public to the environmental issues, to popularize vehicles with zero emission, as well as to facilitate the creation of electric vehicles service infrastructure in Europe.
