Scientists Without Borders invites to open workshop with virologist Sergei Popov

The Scientists Without Borders holds public workshop with Professor Sergei Popov who will present a report "The role of interactions of subviral structures of human immunodeficiency virus with cell proteins in the molecular pathogenesis of infection.”

Sergei Popov is a virologist. He graduated from the Kishinev State Medical Institute, courses for express diagnostics of especially dangerous infections at Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute of the USSR Ministry of Health, special clinical residency at the Institute of Tropical Medicine of the USSR Ministry of Health and postgraduate program at the Ivanovsky Institute of Virology of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR. After defending his thesis, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the laboratory of retroviruses of the Belarusian Research Institute of Epidemiology. In the United States, he worked at leading research centers in the country (the Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health of Bethesda, the Center for Medical Research of the North Shore Hospital of Long Island and Harvard University Medical School Boston). Currently, he is an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

The lecture will take place on 6 June at 16:00 at the Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus (13 Surganova str., room 402).

Prof. Popov will present the lecture in Russian. The event will be of interest to students, postgraduates and their supervisors.
