Uzbekistan scientists complete internship at National Academy of Sciences of Belarus

A solemn ceremony of awarding certificates to Uzbek scientists, who completed the internship program in scientific organizations of the NAS of Belarus, was held. The documents were handed over by the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov. These internships are carried out due to bilateral cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Vladimir Gusakov congratulated Uzbek scientists on the successful completion of the internship. “It is very important that fruitful ties have been established between the scientific organizations of Belarus and Uzbekistan, and scientists of our countries share the results and successes. We agreed to expand this cooperation,” he said.

A group of Uzbek citizens from the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, public authorities and scientific and practical institutions, underwent training in academic research and production organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus from 18 July to 12 August. The internship was organized by the Graduate School of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Uzbek scientists took internship program in Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering, Institute of Energy, Institute of Philosophy, Joint Institute of Informatics Problems, Scientific and Practical Center for Materials Science, Center for Geophysical Monitoring, and Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research. As part of the educational program, the interns learnt about institutes’ activities, equipment, organization of production and technologies, worked in libraries and archival funds, and also participated in the First Forum of Belarus and Uzbekistan Regions. The result of training in the NAS of Belarus was not only the development of new methods and technologies, but also collecting materials for scientific articles and developing plans for joint research with Belarusian scientists. The following results were noted in the feedback of the internship managers and interns' reports: mastering the technology of mechanical processing of high-hard materials; new methods of cell cultivation in aseptic conditions; studying the experience of maintaining Earth remote sensing information; comparative study of linguistic phenomena of unrelated languages; learning the experience of digitizing the folklore archive.

Five cooperation documents were signed following the internship results: Memorandum of cooperation between the Center for Geophysical Monitoring and the Institute of Seismology of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Cooperation Agreement between the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus and the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Cooperation Agreement between the Institute of Energy and the Scientific and Technical Center of Uzbekistan; Cooperation Agreement between the Institute of Energy of the NAS of Belarus and the Tashkent State Technical University; Memorandum of cooperation between the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering and the Center for Advanced Technologies under the Ministry of Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Besides, based on the results of internships, representatives of the first group are planning to sign a Cooperation Agreement between the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the NASB Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research and the Kokand State Pedagogical Institute.

Until 12 September, another 18 trainees from Uzbekistan organizations will continue their two-month internship in Institute of Chemistry of New Materials, Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, Scientific and Practical Center for Materials Science, Joint Institute for Informatics Problems, SSPA "Optics, Optoelectronics, and Laser Technology", Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research, Institute for Land Reclamation, Institute of Economics , Institute of Microbiology, Central Botanical Garden, Institute of Genetics and Cytology.
