NASB delegation takes part in IAAS Council meeting in Dushanbe

A delegation from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus takes part in the 32nd meeting of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS), which is taking place in Dushanbe (the Republic of Tajikistan) on 19-20 September.

The event participants are supposed to consider the IAAS work plan for 2019-2021, to approve the Declaration on the IAAS Development for the period up to 2030, to discuss promising research areas of the Association members - the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The heads of the academies of sciences will review the results of the IAAS scientific councils' work and determine future objectives. Apart from that, the IAAS badge and diploma are going to be approved. The first diploma will be awarded to the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Academician Boris Paton and the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan Academician Farhod Rakhimi for significant contribution to the development of the International Association of Academies of Sciences.

The IAAS Council meeting will also focus on the NASB experience in supporting young scientists for using it in the IAAS activities. A report on this issue will be delivered by the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists Andrei Ivanets.

Besides, it is planned to discuss the accession of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to the IAAS as a full member and the Academies of Sciences of Heilongjiang and Shandong provinces (China) as associate members.

The meeting participants will visit the organizations of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as take part in the International scientific conference "The role of young scientists in the development of science, innovation and technology".
