NAS of Belarus cooperates with 20 regions of Russia

The NAS of Belarus cooperates with scientific organizations of 20 Russian regions. This was announced today by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, during negotiations with Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus. “We have ties with scientific organizations in 20 Russian regions. Our specific institutes and centers are actively working with Russian regions,” said Vladimir Gusakov. “We have very close ties with Russian scientists, the Russian Academy of Sciences, and all regional branches of science of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The Inter-Academic Council of the RAS and the NAS of Belarus is working. We work on a wide range of joint projects and are interested in even closer cooperation with Russian regions,” said the Chairman of the NASB Presidium. Speaking about the cooperation of Belarusian and Russian scientists, the Head of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus noted that joint projects were being worked out in priority areas of scientific and technical cooperation. The cooperation between Russia and Belarus is also carried out within the framework of the International Association of Academies of Sciences, its headquarters being moved to Minsk to the base of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2017.

Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, suggested to organize a series of meetings of young people with leading scientists from Russia and Belarus in order to promote scientific achievements of the two countries. “This could be a conversation about the Belarusian or Russian science, the life of society, any important issues. Such meetings could take place both in Belarus and in Russia,” he said. Speaking about the Russian and Belarusian scientific and technical cooperation, the Ambassador of Russia drew attention to the development of closer contacts of Belarusian scientists with leading Russian scientific centers, in particular, with Kurchatov Institute National Research Center. In order to expand the interaction between the scientists of the two countries, it was agreed during the negotiations, that visits to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus should be included in the programs of visits of Russian governors to the Republic of Belarus.

On October 10, 2019, a delegation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation headed by Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus, paid a visit to the NAS of Belarus. The guests held talks with the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences and visited the permanent exhibition "Native Science Achievements to Production," where they got acquainted with the latest developments of academic scientists.
