Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov visits research and experimental base “Zhuravinka” of NASB Central Botanical Garden
On 16 March 2018, during his working visit to Gantsevichi district of Brest region, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov visited the research and experimental base “Zhuravinka” of the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus. During the visit, the possible creation of an experimental production plantation of blueberry and the organization of a workshop for the production of confectionery products from local raw materials (based on energy-saving technology of processing of fruit and vegetables) were discussed.
Competition for young international experts of Union State of Russia and Belarus
Applications for a competition for young international experts of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are being accepted. The competition is held under the aegis of the State Secretary of the Union.
The organizers of the competition are the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State University, Russian-Belarusian Expert Club and Information and Analytical Edition “Eurasia. Expert”. The project is implemented with the support of the Permanent Committee of the Union State.
Intellectual club of Institute of Philosophy discusses sociological research on status of women in academic science
On 15 March 2018, a discussion with the participation of an invited expert was held in the Intellectual club "Women in Philosophy" at the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus. The Intellectual club set the goal to create a platform for dialogue, to establish and expanse professional contacts between women engaged in philosophy.
At the meeting, the report on social and professional status of women scientists in academic science (based on the results of sociological research) by Alesya P. Solovey, researcher of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus was discussed. The report considered various factors affecting the social well-being of Belarusian women scientists.
NASB representatives tell journalists about topical issues of preservation and restoration of historical and cultural heritage
On 16 March 2018, a press conference on actual issues of preservation and revival (restoration) of objects of historical and cultural heritage of Belarus was held at the Press Center of the House of Press. From the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus the event was attended by the Deputy Director on scientific work of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Lakiza and head of the Department of folklore and culture of Slavic peoples of the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", Doctor of Philology Tatiana Volodina.
Institute of Philosophy of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus co-organizes international scientific online events
The Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus co-organized the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Culture and Problem of Civilizational Choice", the International Philosophical and Methodological Seminar "Human Problem: History and Modernity", as well as the International Round Table "Ideas and Justification of Changes to the Transformation Programs" (15-16 March 2018, Ust-Kamenogorsk – Kostanay – Minsk). The events were held online. Thanks to this format of events, participants from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were able to join them.
Innovative master's program “Additive technologies” is opened at NASB Researchers Training Institute
By the Order No. 187 of 12.03.2018 of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus in consultation with the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the innovative master's program 1-31 80 18 “Additive technologies” was opened at the Researchers Training Institute of the NAS of Belarus. This specialty is introduced into the National Qualifier of the Republic of Belarus 011-2009 "Specialties and Qualifications".
For the first time in the Republic of Belarus, training of specialists for sustainable development of digital production on the basis of additive technologies will be started.
Successes of UAVs of NAS of Belarus in United Arab Emirates
From 25 to 27 February 2018 the leading International Exhibition of Unmanned Systems and Simulators UMEX 2018 took place in Abu Dhabi. This event was arranged under the auspices of the royal prince of Abu Dhabi, deputy commander-in-chief of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan with support of the General Staff of the UAE Armed Forces. Such kind of exhibition reflects the tendency of the Middle East and North Africa countries to use high-tech systems, including unmanned systems. The exhibition, which took place within the framework of the Aviation and Aerospace Week, was attended by experts, researchers and specialists who were shown current international products and scientific innovations in unmanned equipment. Over 120 enterprises and companies from 34 countries presented their products in the field of aviation, marine and land unmanned systems at an exhibition area of 17 thousand square meters.
Swedish and Belarusian scientists to cooperate in the field of ecology and energy
From 26 February to 2 March 2018, Vice President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences Magnus Breidne visited Minsk at the invitation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The purpose of the visit was to discuss promising areas and mechanisms for developing scientific and technical cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Swedish organizations.
NAS of Belarus hosted conference on thyroid cancer
The scientific conference "Thyroid cancer: multidisciplinary approach to pathology", dedicated to the memory of Academician of the NAS of Belarus Yevgeny P. Demidchik and Corresponding Member of the NAS of Belarus Yury Ye. Demidchik, was held on 2 March 2018 in Minsk. The forum discussed the latest methods of treatment and diagnosis of thyroid cancer.
First conference of young researchers starts its work at Institute of History of NAS of Belarus
On 1-2 March 2018 the Council of Young Scientists of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus holds the First conference of young researchers of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus "Ars longa: scientific achievements, projects, prospects". Young scientists, laboratory assistants and postgraduate students were invited to present their individual or collective projects and studies of recent years. The organizers hope that such kind of conference will promote the development of internal professional contacts and will activate creative searches for young scientists.
Scientists suggest strengthening control over food quality
The NAS of Belarus with the involvement of specialists from scientific medical organizations of the Ministry of Health recommended using more widely the methodology for assessing risk analysis when developing enriched and functional foods. This decision was made at a meeting of the interdepartmental coordinating Council on nutrition problems under the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, which was held on 28 February 2018. In particular, it is recommended to further develop the risk analysis methodology in terms of assessing the potentially negative impact of drugs residues of veterinary and plant protection products, as well as substances migrating from the polymeric packaging of food products on the health of the population of the republic. As noted, the analysis of the risk of food safety is an internationally recognized, modern and effective method. The necessary legislative framework, institutional structure, methodological support and human resources have been formed to implement it in the Republic of Belarus.
