NAS of Belarus signes memorandums with five Sudanese universities
The NAS of Belarus signed memorandums of understanding with the Sudan University of Science & Technology, the University of Western Kordofan, the Blue Nile University, the Open University of Sudan, and the African Science Park (Sudan). Ihar I. Hancharonak, Rector of the Researchers Training Institute, acted on behalf of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus during the visit of delegation of heads of eight Belarusian universities to Sudan in the framework of the Belarus-Sudan University Forum (March 27–28, 2018).
The agreements reached are to provide the students, postgraduates, and faculty staff academic mobility, hold joint scientific research, including the programs Erasmus+ and Horizont 2020, and exchange information and technologies. Sudan showed special interest in the opportunity of training researchers in nuclear physics, petrochemistry, and agricultural sciences.
NASB United Institute of Informatics Problems takes part in development and implementation of pilot project “Kryčaŭ as Small Smart Town. Developing Together”
The Kryčaŭ District hosted the 2nd scientific and practical conference on modern methods and means of integrated digital control of a small town like Kryčaŭ. At the conference, the experts discussed conceptual and practical approaches to the introduction of innovative digital technologies to control the territory of a small city like Kryčaŭ, and the concept of a pilot project “Kryčaŭ as Small Smart Town. Developing Together” was presented. The conference focused on innovative potential of the town necessary to implement technologies of digital control of a small city territory. The issue of unified information space as the main component of an integrated information system of regional management and interaction of government bodies and citizens was also touched upon.
Museum of Ancient Belarusian Culture and Minsk Secondary School No. 147 invite to opening of exhibition of children works
The Museum of Ancient Belarusian Culture of the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus and Minsk Secondary School No. 147 invite to opening of exhibition of the school pupils works. The exhibition will be presented on 5 April 2018, at 3:00 p.m., at the following address: Minsk, vul. Surhanava, ½.
The presentation will be attended by representatives of the Minsk Soviet District administration, the NASB Department of the Humanities and Arts, the NASB Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research, the organizers of the exhibition project, and, naturally, the pupils of Minsk Secondary School No. 147, who are the works of art authors.
Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering to host 25th Godnev Readings
On 6 April 2018, the State Scientific Institution Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will host the 25th Godnev Readings. At the Readings, Lyudmila F. Kabashnikova, NASB Corresponding Member, Doctor of Biology, Associate Professor, Head of a laboratory, will deliver a lecture “Photosynthetic Apparatus and Stress in Plants.” The Godnev Readings are devoted to the 90th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The lecture is organised by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the NASB Department of Biological Sciences, the NASB Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering, and the Belarusian Public Association of Photobiologists and Biophysicists.
NASB organizations to take part in 21st International Specialized Exhibition “TechInnoProm”
Organizations of the NAS of Belarus will take part in the 21st International Specialized Exhibition "TechInnoProm" in Minsk on 29 May – 1 June 2018.
This exhibition is a wide international project on demonstrating of the latest technologies and innovations in industry held in the framework of Belarusian Industrial Forum – 2018 under the patronage of the Government and with the official support of the national authorities, executive authorities of Minsk and regions, institutions of science and education, public associations.

On 27 March 2018, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus held a visiting press event related to the implementation of the Union Sate program "Development of innovating energy-saving technologies and equipment for the production and effective use of biosafe compound feeds for valuable fish species, fur-bearing animals and certain species ("Compound Feed-SG")”.

The 14th International Conference "Equality and justice as a basis of stability in the world – Christian view" organized by the international Foundation of Orthodox Nations Union was held in Kaluga on 23 March 2018. Republic of Belarus holds an annual competition for Prize of V.D. Spasovich
The Republic of Belarus holds an annual competition for the Prize of V.D. Spasovich, outstanding Belarusian lawyer, editor, literary scholar. The competition is held in order to promote the formation of legal statehood in Belarus, to improve legal culture of citizens, increase role and importance of law, as well as to promote lawyer profession in following categories: court, prosecutor's office, probe, executive proceeding, advocacy, notary, science and law, economy and law, mediation, law and journalism, student studies.
Belarus place in modern geopolitical and geo-economic processes to be discussed at Institute of History of NAS of Belarus
On 28-29 March 2018, Geopolitics History Center of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus together with Representative office of Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Belarus holds an international scientific conference "Belarus in modern geopolitical processes".

Series "Essays on the history of culture of Belarus" is presented in Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library
On 22 March 2018, the presentation of series "Essays on history of culture of Belarus" in 4 volumes (editor in chief academician of the NAS of Belarus Aliaksandr Lakotka) was organised by the Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus and the Kandrat Krapiva Institute of Art Studies, Ethnography and Folklore in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus. The series was published in publishing house "Belaruskaya navuka". The book "Belarusian costume" by Candidate of Historical Sciences Valentina N. Belyavina and Doctor of Historical Sciences Lyubov V. Rakova was printed in publishing house "Belarus" and was also presented there.
International scientific conference “Belarusian historical literature: genres, characters and issues” starts in Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature Studies
International scientific conference “Belarusian historical literature: genres, characters and issues” dedicated to 125th anniversary of Maksim Garetsky birth date started in Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature Stdudies of the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus.
Addressing to the audience Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus, academician Aleksandr Kilchevsky remembered works of the most significant representatives of Belarusian historical literature and underlined their value for Belarusian history as well as for humanity. “It’s impossible to bring up future generation without studying of this layer, impossible to identify Belarusians as nation. This is a challenge for our scholars and they successfully complete it”.
Session of Executive Committee of Space Flight Participants Association started in National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
Session of the Executive Committee of the Space Flight Participants Association started in 22 March in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
9 members of the Executive Committee, including astronauts from Russia, the USA, China, Germany and France take part in the event on 21st 26th March, 2018. Among them Bonnie Dunbar (the USA) – the President of the Space Flights Participants Association, Yang Liwei (China) – the first astronaut of the PRC, the General Director of China manned space Agency, Aleksandr Aleksandrov (Russia), the Head of Space Flight Participants Association – Russia, SPA Energia cosmonaut, the General Director Advisor of S.P. Korolev Rocket And Space Corporation “Energia”, Michel Tognini (France) – astronaut, the Head of European astronauts training Center etc. The cosmonauts from Belarus Vladimir Kovalenok – the President of Russian Space Federation, twice Hero of the Soviet Union and pilot-cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky, the Hero of Russia also came to Session.
Seminar on genetic testing in diagnostics and therapy of cardiovascular diseases was held in NASB Institute of Genetics and Cytology
International seminar “Predicting genetic testing as essential step of modern medicine” took part in the Institute of Genetics and Cytology of the NAS of Belarus on 20th March, 2018. Scientists and physicians discussed genetic aspects of thrombogenic diseases, practical use of molecular-genetic analysis in cardiology, DNA analysis in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, experience of genetic diagnostics and therapy of vascular diseases and other issues.

Social and scientific initiative "Scientists without borders" holds a series of seminars where Belarusian scientists living and working abroad will talk about their researches and share their experience in developing of science in leading foreign laboratories.

Press conference dedicated to 75th anniversary of Khatyn tragedy is held at National Press Center of Republic of Belarus
On 19 March 2018, a press conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the tragedy in Khatyn took place at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. From the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vyacheslav Danilovich, Director of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus, and Alexey Litvin, Head of the Department of Military History of Belarus at the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus, took part in the press conference.
Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov visits research and experimental base “Zhuravinka” of NASB Central Botanical Garden
On 16 March 2018, during his working visit to Gantsevichi district of Brest region, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov visited the research and experimental base “Zhuravinka” of the Central Botanical Garden of the NAS of Belarus. During the visit, the possible creation of an experimental production plantation of blueberry and the organization of a workshop for the production of confectionery products from local raw materials (based on energy-saving technology of processing of fruit and vegetables) were discussed.
Competition for young international experts of Union State of Russia and Belarus
Applications for a competition for young international experts of the Union State of Belarus and Russia are being accepted. The competition is held under the aegis of the State Secretary of the Union.
The organizers of the competition are the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Belarusian State University, Russian-Belarusian Expert Club and Information and Analytical Edition “Eurasia. Expert”. The project is implemented with the support of the Permanent Committee of the Union State.
Intellectual club of Institute of Philosophy discusses sociological research on status of women in academic science
On 15 March 2018, a discussion with the participation of an invited expert was held in the Intellectual club "Women in Philosophy" at the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus. The Intellectual club set the goal to create a platform for dialogue, to establish and expanse professional contacts between women engaged in philosophy.
At the meeting, the report on social and professional status of women scientists in academic science (based on the results of sociological research) by Alesya P. Solovey, researcher of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus was discussed. The report considered various factors affecting the social well-being of Belarusian women scientists.
NASB representatives tell journalists about topical issues of preservation and restoration of historical and cultural heritage
On 16 March 2018, a press conference on actual issues of preservation and revival (restoration) of objects of historical and cultural heritage of Belarus was held at the Press Center of the House of Press. From the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus the event was attended by the Deputy Director on scientific work of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Vadim Lakiza and head of the Department of folklore and culture of Slavic peoples of the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus", Doctor of Philology Tatiana Volodina.
Institute of Philosophy of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus co-organizes international scientific online events
The Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus co-organized the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Culture and Problem of Civilizational Choice", the International Philosophical and Methodological Seminar "Human Problem: History and Modernity", as well as the International Round Table "Ideas and Justification of Changes to the Transformation Programs" (15-16 March 2018, Ust-Kamenogorsk – Kostanay – Minsk). The events were held online. Thanks to this format of events, participants from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus were able to join them.
