XV Minsk International Heat and Mass Transfer Forum to be held at NAS of Belarus on May 23-26, 2016
More than 250 leading scientists from 10 countries will participate in the XV Minsk International Heat and Mass Transfer Forum. The largest scientific event will be held at the National Academy of Sciences on May 23-26, 2016. Scientists from Russia, USA, China, Japan, England, Germany, Norway, Poland and other countries will come to Minsk. Meetings of the world's leading experts on a regular basis (every four years) held in the capital of Belarus from the beginning of the 60s of the last century are the recognition of the national scientific school in the field of heat and mass transfer. And this is a great opportunity for experts to exchange ideas, to compare ongoing research with global trends, to find partners for the expansion of scientific research, investors and potential producers of high-tech products.
International round table on "Intellectual heritage of Imam Khomeini in the discourse of history and geopolitics" to be held at NASB Institute of History
The International round table on "Intellectual heritage of Imam Khomeini in the discourse of history and geopolitics" will take part at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on the 1st of June.
The purpose of the round table is to discuss the spiritual, ideological and political legacy of the founder of the modern Iranian state, Ayatollah Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini (1902-1989), his role in formation of modern practice of intercultural and inter-civilizational relations. The discussion will cover issues of the development of modern Belarusian-Iranian cooperation; study the rich heritage of Iranian literature and culture in the Republic of Belarus.
Open National Wildlife Photography Contest "Golden Lynx" starts
Open National Wildlife Photography Contest "Golden Lynx" with international participation started on May 16. Organizer of the photo contest is the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus represented by SSPA "Scientific-Practical Center of NAS of Belarus for Bioresources" and the World Wildlife Support Fund “Krasny Bor”. The organizing committee, in addition to the organizers, includes representatives from national ministries — Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Forestry of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus.
Delegation from Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Jilin Province of People's Republic of China visits NAS of Belarus
On May 19, 2016 at the invitation of the Belarusian side a delegation from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Jilin Province of the People's Republic of China, headed by the President of the Academy Wu Xinhong visited the NAS of Belarus.
At the visit members of the delegation were made familiar with the NASB permanent exhibition "Accomplishments of Belarusian scientists to the production sector" and have negotiated with top officials of the NAS of Belarus on the opportunities and mechanisms of cooperation in the field of agriculture on the basis of signed in October 2015 Agreement between the NAS of Belarus and Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Jilin Province.
Water treatment technologies is discussed at Joint IX International Water-Chemistry Forum at NAS of Belarus
On May 17-19, 2016 the joint IX International Water-Chemistry Forum takes place at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event brought together guests from Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and other countries. The main purpose of the meeting is to familiarize stakeholders engaged in the implementation of scientific developments in the field of water treatment in production, with the latest achievements in the field of water treatment and purification.
At the opening ceremony, representatives of the Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus told about successful active cooperation with the Russian side: the Ministry of Energy, the company "Hydrotech", CJSC "RPC Mediana-Filter" and others.
Institute of Philosophy of NAS of Belarus holds international round table "Philosopher and time: truth, wisdom, virtue" timed to 95th anniversary of outstanding Belarusian philosopher Alexey Kliment'evich Maneev
On May 19, 2016 at 12:00 (Surganov str., 1, building 2, room 810) the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus holds international round table "Philosopher and time: truth, wisdom, virtue" timed to the 95th anniversary of prominent Belarusian philosopher Alexey Kliment’evich Maneev. During the round table topical issues of modern philosophy, logic and methodology of scientific cognition, social anthropology and ecology, associated with various aspects of A. Maneev multifaceted creativity will be discussed. Collection of scientific works, which it is planned to publish on the results of the forum, will be another gift from the philosophical community of the republic for the wonderful celebrant.
Regional development peculiarities of Oshmyany District to be discussed by historians of NAS of Belarus on May 20, 2016
On May 20, 2016 State Scientific Institution "The Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus" together with the Oshmyany District Executive Committee hold VII scientific-practical conference "Golshany Readings": "Oshmyany District - regional development peculiarities in the 10th-20th centuries".
The plenary meeting will be held on May 20, 2016 from 10.00 to 13.00 am at the address Oshmyany, Grodno region, Sovetskaya str. 103, in the large conference room (the building of the Oshmyany District Executive Committee).
The conference will be attended by the historians, journalists, and public figures. The main attention of researchers is focused on identification of mechanisms of interaction in historical perspective of Oshmyany cities and their surroundings.
II International research-to-practice Conference "Antarctic Environment: current state of study" starts to work on May 18, 2016
On May 18-20, 2016 State Scientific and Production Amalgamation "Scientific and Practical Center of NAS of Belarus for Bioresources" holds the II International research-to-practice Conference "Antarctic Environment: current state of study". The conference will take place in the resort town of Naroch (Minsk region, Myadel district, Naroch).
The main activities of the conference: legal and logistic activities in the organization and conduct of Antarctic expeditions; questions and mechanisms for safety protection during expeditions and development of instrumental and technical base for scientific research; biological research in Antarctica; geological and geophysical research in Antarctica; climate, meteorological and aerospace research in Antarctica.
First Vice Chairman of NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik takes part in Belarusian delegation's visit to Cuba
In early May 2016, the First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik took part in the visit of the Belarusian delegation to Cuba.
The delegation led by Alexander Shumilin, the Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus also included representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and Republican Unitary Enterprise "Belmedpreparaty". The main purpose of the visit was the participation in the first session of the Joint Belarusian-Cuban Commission on Scientific and Technological Cooperation, which took place at the Ministry of Science and Technology of Cuba, chaired by the Cuban Minister. Scientific and innovation potential of both countries was presented during the meeting. The NAS of Belarus presented the developments in the field of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, nanofertilizer, unmanned aerial vehicles, remote sensing, agricultural machinery, instrumentation and others.
Meeting on free electron lasers with a member of Nobel Committee for Physics, Rector of Stockholm University Mats Larsson takes place at NAS of Belarus
On May 16, 2016 the international meeting on free electron lasers started its work at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The official organizers of the event, which will take place on 16 and 17 May 2016, are the NAS of Belarus and Stockholm University. The event brings together leading experts in the field from England, Germany, Sweden, Japan, Italy, Belarus, and Ukraine.
Before the meeting, the world-famous Swedish scientist, member of the Nobel Committee for Physics, Rector of Stockholm University, Mats Larsson, speaking on the subject of the meeting, noted that "this area of science in the world is only growing. The participation of Belarusian scientists at the present time is fundamental and theoretical, since such kind of installations exists only in the United States and Japan. But if we evaluate the contribution of Belarusian scientists in the development of laser physics, it is very high. This is well illustrated by the activities of the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics”.
Saudi Arabia delegation visits NAS of Belarus
On May 16, 2016 a Saudi Arabia delegation visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus within the visit to the Republic of Belarus. Members of the delegation were made familiar with the NASB permanent exhibition "Accomplishments of Belarusian scientists to the production sector" and have negotiated with top officials of the NAS of Belarus. The Head of the delegation, Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural Affairs of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Youssuf bin Tarrad Al Sa'doun noted that Belarusian and Saudi Arabian scientists have already produced results in the course of joint work but they are intent on upping the scale of the efforts.

On May 12-13, 2016 the International scientific and practical conference "Results of Archaeological Research on the Territory of Belarus in 2015" was held at the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus. The conference was attended by Belarusian and foreign scientists from Russia and Ukraine.
The Deputy Director for Science of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus, candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Vadim L. Lakiza presented the report on the review of the legislation of the Republic of Belarus in the field of protection of the archaeological heritage, as well as the changes aimed at combating the illegal search of archaeological artifacts and selling them. The report had been discussed by scientists in connection with the adoption of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus №485 dated 14 December 2015.
Joint IX International water-chemical forum to be held on 17-19 May 2016
On May 17-19, 2016 State Scientific Institution “The Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus” jointly with the National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” and D. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia hold the joint IX International water-chemical forum. The forum will feature presentations by leading scientists and experts from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Germany in the field of the newest areas of water treatment, the state and prospects of membrane technologies, implementation and operation experience of integrated technologies in the Russian energy sector and others.
I International Congress of Cardiology and Therapeutists begins work at NAS of Belarus
On May 12, 2016 the First International Congress of Cardiologists and Internists started working on the basis of the NAS of Belarus. The Congress brings together leading experts in the field of cardiology and therapy from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia, Ukraine, Canada, Sweden, Georgia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Opening the First International Congress of Cardiologists and Internists the Minister of Health of the Republic of Belarus Vasily Zharko noted the success of Belarusian doctors in cardiology. "212 heart transplants have been done in the country since 2009. By the number of heart transplants we are in ninth place in the world”, said Vasily Zharko.
A Protocol following the visit of the President of Turkmen Academy of Sciences to National Academy of Sciences of Belarus was signed
On May 10, 2016 the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Meret H. Ashirbayev visited the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. During the visit the talks between the President of the AST and the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir G. Gusakov were held. The Chairman of the NASB Presidium informed the guest about the priority directions of the activity of the NASB organizations and highlighted the most promising areas for joint research and production activities. The President of the AST Meret Ashirbayev informed the Belarusian side about the priority directions of the activity of the AST organizations and proposed a number of promising areas for collaboration.
I International Congress of Cardiologists and Therapeutists to be held on basis of NAS of Belarus on 12-13 May 2016
The event is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Department of Medical Sciences of the NAS of Belarus, Department of Cardiology and Internal Diseases of EE "Belarusian State Medical University". Leading experts from the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Canada, Sweden, and Bosnia and Herzegovina will make presentations at the forum. Leading physicians of our country, foreign experts, professors of educational institutions that provide health care to patients of therapeutic profile and training of general practitioners will discuss modern diagnostic and treatment possibilities and advances in cardiology, interdisciplinary problems in therapeutic practice, and the prospects for health system development in the Republic of Belarus. In addition to the plenary and breakout sessions presentations of young scientists and poster sessions are scheduled at the Congress.
International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture completes the work at NAS of Belarus
On the 6th of May the First International Scientific Congress of Belarusian Culture which brought together more than 330 scientists from 11 countries completes the work. Among the participants 65 scientists are from other countries: Russia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland, the USA, Great Britain, Slovenia, Austria, Vietnam and China. The Congress was intended to raise the level of scientific discussion of the problems of Belarusian culture development, the preservation of national cultural heritage, language, literature and art in the context of globalization. Scientists discussed the development and functioning of the Belarusian language in the context of bilingualism, the problems of Belarusian architecture and design, fine and decorative arts, monumental art, cinematographic and video arts, musical art, theater, literature, historical and cultural heritage and many other problems of the Belarusian culture. The organizers of large-scale event are the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus; State Scientific Institution "The Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Science of Belarus" and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus.

In May of 1945 the first volleys in honor of the defeat of fascism and end of the Great Patriotic War have sounded. Since then the Great Victory is considered to be the most precious and bright holiday in which joy and sorrow came together, because the war took someone almost from every Belarusian family.

President of Republic of Belarus presents state awards
On May 5, 2016 the President of the Republic of Belarus presented state awards to figures of science, culture, health care, public administration, law enforcement bodies. At the ceremony Alexander Lukashenko reiterated that wonderful people protecting the native land and glorifying the young sovereign state by their deeds are the main treasure of Belarus. The Academician-Secretary of the Department of Physics, Mathematics and Informatics of the NAS of Belarus Valentin Orlovich was awarded the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus in Science. The Director of the UE "Geoinformation systems" Sergey Zolotoy was awarded the Medal of Francysk Skaryna.
