Agreement on scientific cooperation between NAS of Belarus and NAS of Republic of Kazakhstan signed
An agreement on scientific cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been signed by the Heads of the Academies.
According to the document, the parties agreed to strengthen scientific and technical potentials, and to promote scientific cooperation and practical implementation of joint scientific developments in the areas of mutual interest. It is also planned to implement new scientific and technical projects, to organize joint scientific events on a wide range of scientific directions or participate in scientific events arranged in any of these countries.
NASB Competitive Commission announces executors of State Program initiatives
According to Minutes No 6 of 30 November 2017, the meeting of the NASB Competitive Commission determined executors of the State Program "High Technologies and Equipment" for the years 2016-2020, the subprogram 1 "Innovative Biotechnologies 2020."
In particular, the Belarusian State University has been determined the executor of the initiative No 45 “To develop and introduce the technology of production of an injectable preparation for the treatment of intracellular infections of large and small cattle.”
On November 30, International Scientific Conference "Francysk Skaryna and His Time. The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and East Slavic printing" to start its work
The Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States will organize the International Scientific Conference "Francysk Skaryna and His Time. The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian and East Slavic printing". It will be held on November 30 and December 1, 2017.
Francysk Skaryna is the great Belarusian first printer, an outstanding enlightener and writer of the Renaissance, who made an invaluable contribution to the development of the Belarusian and Slavic culture. In 1517, F. Skaryna organized a printing house in Prague and issued the first printed book of the Eastern Slavs. In 1517-1519, he translated and printed 23 books of the Bible. Skaryna also published "The Little Travel Book" (1522) and "Apostol" (1525) in Vilnius.
Presentation of 3D TV without glasses to take place in NAS of Belarus
On 30 November 2017, at 10.00 a.m., the 3D VISION (3D television) without glasses, which is a unique innovative technology, will be presented at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (praspiekt Niezaliežnasci, 66, room 216). It will be for the first time in Belarus.
The NAS of Belarus continues the tradition of organizing lectures by leading scientists from foreign scientific centers on topical problems of science, as well as familiarizing our country's scientists with the latest achievements of the world scientific community. Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and representatives of many ministries and departments of our country will take part in the event.
Director of NASB Institute of Sociology takes part in International Think-Tank Symposium in Beijing
On 16 November 2017, the International Think-Tank Symposium was held in Beijing. It was devoted to the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and discussed issues of the development and global significance of China. The event was organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Chinese International Economic Exchange Center. This is the first large international forum of the expert community after the 19th Congress of the CPC, and it is aimed at discussing the results of the Congress, improving the work on integration of different countries activities for the sake of peace and prosperity. The symposium was attended by world-famous scientists from more than 30 countries worldwide. The symposium organizers consider the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus to be one of the leading Think-Tanks in the world. Therefore, they invited Professor Igor Kotlyarov, Director of the Institute, to participate in the world forum.
Meeting of organizing committee for preparation and holding of Second Congress of Scientists of Republic of Belarus held
On 28 November 2017, a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the Second Congress of Scientists of the Republic of Belarus was held at the NAS of Belarus. The meeting was headed by Academician Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
The organizational committee discussed in detail many topical issues concerning readiness of all services to hold the Second Congress of Scientists of the Republic of Belarus; implementation, material and technical support for the congress; participation of representatives of foreign scientific organizations in it, etc.
Deepening of integration and cooperation in agribusiness in EAEC to be discussed at round table discussion in NASB Institute of Economics
On 1 December 2017, a round table discussion on strategic directions of development and deepening of integration and cooperation in the agribusiness of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Community will be held at the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The NASB Institute of Economics and the Department of Agro-Industrial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission are the organizers of the discussion.
The event aims at exchanging experts opinions, elaborating proposals on the development of sectoral interstate interaction, and summing up the results of the implementation of the coordinated agro-industrial policy of the Eurasian Economic Community.
Academician-Secretary of Humanitarian Sciences and Arts Department takes part in opening of Third Belarusian Christmas Readings
On 24 November 2017, a solemn opening and a plenary session of the Third Belarusian Christmas Readings, devoted to issues of moral values and the future of mankind, took part at the Belarusian National Technical University. Aleksandr Kovalenya, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanitarian Sciences and Arts, participated in the event. He presented the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus there and read a welcoming speech from Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium. In his welcoming speech, Vladimir Gusakov emphasized that the forum had already become a good tradition and expression of a sincere desire to improve the spiritual and cultural development of the Belarusian society.
International Symposium on Genomics completes its work on November 23, 2017
The International Symposium on Genomics, timed to the Year of Science, was held in Minsk on November 21–23, 2017. It was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the NASB Institute of Genetics and Cytology, and the Belarusian Society of Geneticists and Breeders.
The event aimed at evaluating the achieved results and the current state of research in the field of evolutionary, structural and functional genomics; discussing strategies, priorities and prospects for its further development; expanding the international cooperation.
Researchers Training Institute of NAS of Belarus to hold Science and Religion round table discussion
Within the framework of the events dedicated to the Year of Science, the Science and Religion round table discussion will be held at the Researchers Training Institute of the NAS of Belarus on November 27, 2017. It will be headed by I.I. Gancherenok, the Institute’s Rector. A.I. Osipov, Professor of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines of the Researchers Training Institute, Doctor of Philosophy, Professor; and Svyatoslav Rogalsky, priest, Chairman of the International Public Association "Saints Methodius and Cyril Christian Educational Center", Candidate of Theology, Associate Professor, are the moderators.

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus informs about the extension of the nomination period for the Best Publication about Science contest, dedicated to the Year of Science, until November 28, 2017. The prize of the Year of Science for the best publication about science is awarded to staff members of scientific organizations and educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus for media coverage of the Belarusian scientists achievements.
The nomination materials should be drawn up in accordance with the Regulations and sent to the following address: praspiekt Niezaliežnasci 66, 220072, Minsk. The addressee is as follows: the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Department of Prizes, Scholarships and Awards (rooms 317, 406).
Press conference on latest achievements of sociological scientists held
On 21 November 2017, at 11:00 a.m., a press conference on the latest achievements of sociological scientists was held at the Press Center of the Press House. It summarized the results of the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Social Knowledge and Problems of Modern Development of the Belarusian Society in the Context of Globalization."
Irina V. Lashuk, Deputy Director for Research of the Institute of Sociology, Candidate of Sociology, Associate Professor, told about the scope of the Conference and shared the results of some sociological studies with journalists.
Lex2017 Conference to start its work on November 23
On 23 November 2017, at 10:00 a.m., the Thirteenth International Scientific Conference “Modern Problems of Lexicography” or “Lex2017”, dedicated to the Second Congress of Scientists, will be opened at the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, vul. Surhanava ½).
The forum is organized by the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Yanka Kupala Grodno University, the Alpen-Adria Institute of Slavic Studies (Austria), the Institute for Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Russian Studies of the Warsaw University, the Kharkov Lexicographical Society, and others. More than 100 scientists from different countries, including Austria, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, etc., will take part in the conference on November 23-24, 2017. The participation of specialists in the field of information technology, in addition to linguists, also demonstrates the relevance of the conference and its interdisciplinary character.

NAS of Belarus submits for public debate SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, 2018-2040 Draft Strategy
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, 2018-2040 Strategy is one of the key documents to be submitted to the Second Congress of Scientists of the Republic of Belarus.
The Strategy defines priorities for the long-term development of science and technologies, as well as a set of tools for improving the scientific and technical sphere that will ensure a new quality of the economic growth of the Republic of Belarus and the country’s future exit to the world level of competitiveness in a number of areas.
The Strategy has been developed by the scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Its developers have taken into account comments and proposals received from state authorities, working groups, and individual scientists.
