Agreement on establishment of innovation and industrial cluster "Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Microwave Electronics" signed at B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics
On February 10, 2017 an Agreement on establishment and activities of innovation and industrial cluster "Microelectronics, Optoelectronics and Microwave Electronics" was signed at the B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus. The cluster included organizations of the NAS of Belarus, OJSC "Integral", OJSC "Planar", OJSC "Research Institute of Radio Materials", and some universities, namely the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian National Technical University, and the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radio Electronics.
Meeting of generations of scientists held at NAS of Belarus
On February 9, 2017 senior students of universities who are interested in science and young researchers met with the leading scientists of the country, academicians and corresponding members of the NAS of Belarus. Leaders of the NAS of Belarus and the RPA "Belaya Rus" adressed welcoming words to the youth. At the meeting students learned private stories of life choice in science from recognized scientists and took good advice. Students also got acquainted with the "Turn-key Scientist" project of the NASB Council of Young Scientists. The project aims to search for talented undergraduates and graduate students, to help them in conducting experiments, to support at the stage of writing a dissertation and its defence, and subsequent employment. The Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov emphasized that the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences together with the Council of Young Scientists arranged a lot of events to involve young people in science and provide full support to beginning researchers. He said, "We seek economic, organizational and moral measures to stimulate the creativity of young scientists. The National Academy of Sciences pays special attention to creation of conditions for young people to stay in science. We help in housing issues, support in writing scientific papers, conducting experiments, and publishing of research results."
Head of NASB apparatus Petr A. Vityaz takes part in opening ceremony of "Automation. Electronics-2017" exhibition
On February 7 "Automation. Electronics-2017" and "Elektrotekh. Light-2017" exhibitions
opened in Minsk. Head of the apparatus of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Petr A. Vityaz took part in the opening ceremony of the exhibitions. In his welcoming speech he noted that automation was an important direction of development, and it was of particular relevance in light of the announcement 2017 the Year of Science in Belarus. The economy was becoming increasingly dependent on energy supply. Automation of production processes played an important role in this matter.
Representatives of NAS of Belarus discuss innovation technologies, automation and mechatronics in mechanical engineering and instrumentation at International scientific and practical conference
As part of the 20th International specialized exhibition “Automation and Electronics 2017” being held at the BelExpo exhibition center (Minsk, vul. Ja.Kupaly, 27), the 5th International scientific and practical conference “Innovation Technologies, Automation and Mechatronics in Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation” started its work on 8 February 2017. The conference is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, and the Belarusian National Technical University. The conference is attended by representatives of several institutions of the NAS of Belarus, namely of the Physics and Technology Institute, the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering, the United Institute of Informatics problems, and the Institute of Powder Metallurgy. The NASB participants present reports on issues of robotics, additive technologies, nanoscale technologies in manufacture of coatings, and improvement of stamping technologies at the conference.
Working meeting on development of micro-, opto-, microwave electronics and electronic engineering held at OJSC "Planar"
A working meeting with representatives of the leadership and organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Industry, and the Ministry of Education, as well as of universities of the Republic of Belarus was held at the OJSC "Planar". The development of such domestic industries as micro-, opto-, microwave electronics and electronic engineering were discussed at the event. As noted, the use of scientific advances in these fields can be the basis for the conquest of markets. The meeting was preceded by extensive preparatory work with participation of representatives of industrial sector, the National Academy of Sciences and universities. As a result, the parties agreed on the need for organizational solutions that would contribute to development and deepening of scientific and technical cooperation between industrialists and scientists. In the near future it is planned to sign an Agreement on the establishment and activities of innovation and industrial cluster "Micro- and Optoelectronics and Microwave Electronics."
Scientists of National Academy of Sciences of Belarus honored with state awards of Republic of Belarus
According to the Belarus President Decree No. 34 of 1 February 2017, a large group of specialists in various fields were awarded state awards for longstanding fruitful work, exemplary fulfillment of service duties, achievement of high production results in manufacturing sector, construction, and agriculture, a significant contribution to the training of highly qualified professionals, development of science and teaching, education and healthcare, Belarusian cinematic art, culture, and sports.
Big meeting of generations of scientists to be held at NAS of Belarus in Year of Science
As part of the Year of Science “Meeting of Generations of Scientists” will be held at the National Academy of Sciences (pr. Niezaliežnasci, 66, Large conference room) at 11.00 a.m. on February 9, 2017.
Young researchers and senior students of universities of the country who are interested in science will meet with the national leading researchers, academicians and corresponding members. More than 430 people are expected to participate in the event. The meeting is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus together with the Republican Public Association "Belaya Rus".

Belarusian scientists invited to debate on cultural heritage
On February 20-21, 2017 a Funded Research Projects Parade workshop will be organized by the Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage with the support of the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIKIRPA) - Parc du Cinquantenaire 1 B-1000. The event will be held in Brussels. It is organized in order to put into perspective and present results of projects granted through the two joint calls. The Parade is intended to give a fresh impetus to research applied to Cultural Heritage, by exploiting and foreseeing impact of most recent research results under the Joint Programming Initiative on Cultural Heritage.
