In order to improve the skills of employees and graduate students and provide highly qualified training to Belarusian specialists, the postgraduate studies were opened in 1927 under the aegis of the Inbelcult and other higher educational institutions of Belarus. After the liberation of Minsk in 1944, the full-time postgraduate courses activity were renewed at once with reestablishment of the Academy activities. The education by correspondence at the post graduate courses began in 1948. In 1957 the NASB Presidium allowed examinations without regular attendance to post those who studied at postgraduate centers and worked simultaneously. To help them, groups studying philosophy and foreign languages were created. As a result, 180 specialists and employees learned foreign languages, and 85 learned philosophy. 200 scientific workers were allowed to pass doctoral examinations without attending lectures. Towards the late fifties and further on, the scientific bodies of NASB was staffed mainly by graduate students and, to an essential degree, by the Belarusian State University (BSU) graduates. In particular, from 1960 to 1967, the Academy recruited 583 graduate students, including 339 persons from BSU.

Today the Academy scientific organizations offer opportunities for postgraduate studies in a wide range of disciplines listed below. Every year an additional information about postgraduate studies at the NAS of Belarus is published in Belarusian newspapers and this web site.
