On the interrelation of friction and surface acoustic emission. pp. 573--578
Summary: The acoustic model of the boundary friction process is elaborated, where the transformation of the surface Rayleigh waves into the body acoustic waves is considered with account of the damping on the dislocations. The dependence, similiar to the inverse resonance curve, between the specific frictional force and the frequency of the Rayleigh waves was obtained. It is shown that the specific frictional force is proportional to the wave length of microrelief of the surface and inversely proportional to square of the surface density of the dislocations.

Modelling of boundary friction in tribosystems. III. Mathematic modelling of nonstationary processes. pp. 598--605
Summary: The methodology of mathematical modelling of friction under the conditions of boundary lubrication is introduced. The differential equations of transitional processes for wear rate, and friction force are obtained. The solution of differential equations permits to define rational running-in processes, the duration of stable work, and the tribological characteristics. The methodology gives an opportunity to reduce time of laboratory and bench testing.

Tribological criteria of workability evaluation for crankshaft bearings of internal combustion engines. pp. 606--615
Summary: The requirements to crankshaft bearings performance criteria are formulated. The deviation index characterising shaft angular displacements is introduced. Basing on curves with equal bearing scoring probability plotted in the coordinate axes "minimum oil film thickness" versus "deviation index", method of bearing scoring prediction is suggested. The generalized criterion characterising both the minimum oil film thickness and the deviation index is suggested. This criterion enables to evaluate bearing wear rate considering hydrodynamic and mixed lubrication conditions.

An analysis of thermoelastic contact stability of a cylinder radial seal. pp. 621--628
Summary: Frictional thermoelastic instability in the contact problem of a radial seal is examined. The critical value of the relative velocity of such a system is presented. A qualitative character of the dependence of this critical relative velocity on all important parameters of the system is investigated.

The influence of some technological errors and increasing of mass of crank parts on durability of engines. pp. 629--636
Summary: It is established that the increasing of deviation of mass and geometric parameters of parts of crank and connecting rod mechanism increases the parameters of wear of main bearings of crankshaft, deteriorates vibroacoustic behavior, and, reduces the resource of engines. The ways of decreasing of above mentioned parameters, the reducing of vibration and noise, and the increasing of engines durability are shown.

Ferrotics with metastable matrix. pp. 644--652
Summary: Methods of producing carbide steels containing relatively small concentration of hardening phase are discussed. Mechanical and tribotechnological properties of ferritics which contain TiC up to 40% of its mass are investigated. Improvement of mechanical properties and wear resistance at realization of gamma--alfa transformation is shown. Superiority was proved of metastable matrix with set level of non-uniformity of distribution of alloying additions.

Wear criteria of coatings formed with microarc method. pp. 653--657
Summary: Based on the analysis of experimental data on coatings' wear, formed with microarc method criteria of their wear resistance are proposed. Those criteria are dependencies of wear on the mechanical properties, some of them are determined with the kinetic microhardness method and other ones -- with geometrical index (fractal dimension).

Friction in steel--concrete precompressed contact. pp. 670--676
Summary: Shear, adhesion and friction bonds between steel and concrete are employed in reinforced concrete members and their joints. The compliance and strength of friction bonds are considered when mutual shear is accumulated in the damaged layer being thicker than the contact layer. This feature restricts the application of modern tribological ideas making the "law of friction" more appropriate as a dependence between motion and shear resistance. Experimental investigation of the law of friction is presented taking account of the pressing force and surface profile of the steel member characterized by the relative area of strain.

On the estimate of lubricant components effect on sliding friction. pp. 686--689
Summary: An investigation concerning different lubricant components (fatty acids and their esters) effect on friction coefficient variation depending on contact materials and friction conditions has been carried out. The variation regularities are shown to depend upon friction joint velocity and its loading. An estimation of the lubricants adhesion has been made as related to their spreading kinetics from a vertically disposed substrate. It was noted, that the substrate preliminary treatment with a fluorine-containing oligomer of the Foleox type leads to formation of a thicker lubricating layer interacting with the substrate, as well as to reduction of the friction coefficient.

Summary: Tribotechnical properties of engineering lubricant based on vegetable oil fluxes and technical fats containing dispersed polyacrylonitrile fibers as fillers have been studied. It has been shown that at friction the fibers are easily deformed and form a stable interlay between rubbing surfaces. This provides high lubricant properties under cold drawing of metals.
