The consortive relationship between fungi and higher arboreous plants represented by Juniperus communis L. pp. 58--65

Summary: 206 species of Junipericolous fungi were studied in Belarus. The examples of all types of consort relations between Juniperus communis L and fungi are given. The greatest quantity of fungi is in neutral mutual relation with the plant-host. Prevailing forms of fungi consortiums connected with a juniper are epibiotic and necrobiotic, wnile prevailing type of connections is trophic.

The morphological peculiarities of goat's rue (Galega orientalis Lam.) at the first year of vegetation. pp. 66--69

Summary: The authors described the peculiarities of growth and development of goat's rue (Galega orientalis Lam.) according to some biometric parameters. They proposed the scale of growth and development of goat's rue at the first year of vegetation.

Cabbage (Brassica pekinensis Lour. Rupr.) development in ion-exchange substratum which contains oxidized and reduced nitrogen. pp. 70--72

Summary: This paper studies the influence of oxidized and reduced nitrogen found in substratum in ion-exchange form on yield and its quality. The object of studies is Brassica pekinensis (Lour.) Rupr. It is shown that ammonia nitrogen ensures high intensity of productivity processes. Concentration of nitrates in verdure under ammonia feeding is 1.5-2.0 fold lower than under nitrate feeding/However, the content of vitamins (ascorbic acid, carotene, PP) was higher under ammonia feeding.

Directed regulation of the contents of flavonoid compounds in generative wheat parts (Triticum aestivum L.). pp. 73--75

Summary: The paper investigates the contents of flavonoid compounds in generative wheat parts after processing of plants with steroid glycosides. It is found that the quantity of flavonoid glycosides and aglicon tricin in plants increase. That is connected with the augmentation of the protective potential and improvement of wheat grain quality.

Phenotypic and genetic types of correlation according to quantitative characteristics in sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum L.). pp. 76--80

Summary: Studying sweet pepper (13 lines, 30 diallel and 40 topcross hybrids) the authors revealed phenotypic and genetic types of correlation according to 9 quantitative characteristics. As a rule, genetic correlation was expressed stronger than phenotypic one. Practical recommendations for using genetic correlation in breeding were given.

Development and virulence of phytopathogens in transgenic plants. pp. 81--84

Summary: Rhamnolipids produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa have been found to exhibit both antimicrobial and antifungal activities. The application of rhamnolipid suspension in planta suppressed diseases caused by pathogen infection. Thus, transgenic plants with rhamnolipid biosynthesis genes have been created. It was shown that the introduction of the rh1B gene provided plants with the tolerance to some pathogens of Solanacea family such as Botrytis cineria and Pseudomonas syringea pv.tabaci. The introduction of this gene could lead to the decrease in yield losses originated from brown and gray mold.

cGMP-hydrolyzing phosphodiesterase activity in green and etiolated oat seedlings: influence of red light absorbed by phytochrome. pp. 85--89

Summary: cGMP-hydrolyzing phosphodiesterase (PDE) activity predominantly located in cytosol was found out in cells of oat seedlings. Phosphodiesterase activity appeared to depend on light conditions of plants growth and seedlings age. The reversible regulation of cGMP-hydrolyzing PDE activity in etiolated seedlings under illumination by red / far red light absorbed by phytochrome was registered. These data testify that photoregulation of cGMP-hydrolyzing PDE in oat seedlings is due to its interaction with phytochrome system.

The effect of high temperature and water deficit on chlorophyll pool state in.barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) leaves. pp. 90--94

Summary: The authors studied the effect of high temperature (40 °C, 3 hours) and water deficit (the placing of roots in 3% polyethylene glycol 6000 solution for 45hrs) on chlorophyll (Chl) pool state in 4-day-old barley leaves. Heating reduced chlorophyll and chlorophyllide content and suppressed the dark resynthesis of photochlorophyllide. Water deficit increased chlorophyll/chlorophyllide content and activated insignificantly photochlorophyllide resynthesis during the first hours of stressor action. The chlorophyllase activity is decreased by both stress treatments. We concluded that heat and dehydration specifically affected chlorophyll biosynthesis and non-specifically affected chlorophyllase biosynthesis.

Review of Ichneumon flies of Vulgichneumon genus (Hymenoptera, Ichneumonidae, Ichneu-moninae) in Belarus. pp. 95--99

Summary: Faunistic, taxonomic and ecological data (abundance, seasonal dynamics, biotopical distribution) of Vulgichneumon Heinrich species from Belarus are given. Species of the genus can be found in a considerable number both in the open and in forest biotopes. Maximum abundance of species is registered in June. Original drawings of the total Vulgichneumon bimaculatus (Schrank) female and its parts of body and 1-2 segments of abdomen of V- saturatorius (L.) (male and female) are given.

The development of helminthocenoses of wolf (Canis lupus) and fox (Vulpes vulpes) within various landscape subzones in Belarus. pp. 100--107

Summary: The author described the species diversity of helminth of wolf and fox populations in Belarus. The author also revealed the differences of helminthocenoses of Cans lupus and Vulpes vulpes and found that these differences were connected with various landscape zones. In Belarus, 26 helminth species are identified in C. lupus and 31 species -- in V. vulpes. The author investigated the structure of helminth population of these carnivores and the peculiarity of the structure formation with respect to different regions.

Biological and medical aspects of electromagnetic field influence. pp. 108--119

Summary: The paper considers numerous manifestations of the electromagnetic field effect on biosystems. This effect is studied both for the whole organism and for its separate structures including molecular and quantum-mechanical levels. The research discusses positive and negative biomedical manifestations of electromagnetic influence. It critically analyzes existing concepts and hypotheses as regards to the mechanisms of electromagnetic effect on living organisms.

Day and night rhythmics of maternal plants during propagation by cuttings and the development of planting material (illustrated by Citrus meyeri). pp. 120--123.

Summary: In the process of propagating of Citrus meyeri by cuttings it was established that the day and night time in the moment of propagation influenced the vegetative progeny in the following signs: survival, the number of parent plant leaves, the length of shoots and root systems, and damp mass. Populations derived from the cuttings detached during the late night (03.17--03.58, summer time in Belarus) had advantages in their development. This time factor effect had been observed during the entire period of observation (up to 1000 days).
