Center of Studies of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of NASB Holds Competition of Creative Works “For What I Love My Native Land”

The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus holds a republic-wide creative campaign “For What I Love My Native Land”. It involves creative works written by Belarusian citizens which reflect achievements in development of Belarusian regions, their pride in their cities, towns and villages, and their love for the heroic past and glorious present.

The competition covers original essays, poems, novels, sketches and other creative works written by the citizens of the Republic of Belarus in the Belarusian language individually or co-authored. These works must have never been participated in any competitions or have not been published before.

The proposed subjects are “For What I Love My Native Land”, “The Language of My Small Motherland”, “The Native Land is a Source of Inspiration”, “Blossom, By Motherland!”.

The works will be assessed by employees of the Centre Studies of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of NASB.

The assessment criteria are correspondence to the declared subject, social topicality, originality, artistic expression level and perfect language skills. The best works will be published in a composite book.

The competition results will be summed up during the Week of Artistic Language (from the 31st of August to the 6th of September, 2020) and the Day of Belarusian Written Language (the 6th of September, 2020).

The competition winners will be awarded with commemorative prizes, diplomas and certificates of acknowledgement from the NASB.

The creative work volume is up to 10 printed pages.

The year of 2020 is the third Year of the Small Motherland proclaimed by the Decision of the President. Over the three years of this campaign, thousands of activities have been performed: settlement development and improvement in different regions of the country, improvement of cultural and intellectual level of the Belarusian people, preservation of local traditions, distinctive features of traditional life, ethnographic culture and language.
