Meeting of section “The heroic feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War – fundamentals of patriotism and civil responsibility cultivation”

On the 28th of September, 2020, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will held a meeting of section “The heroic feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War – fundamentals of patriotism and civil responsibility cultivation” within the framework of the VII Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Russia

The section meeting will include discussion of strengthened patriotic education for the youth and active involvement of the youth in preservation of the national memory on the Great Patriotic War.

Social activists, representatives of the academic and university science of Russia and Belarus, war museums, and youth organizations will participate in the event.

The event aim is to open new pages of our common history and contribute to elimination of “blank spots” in historiography of the World War II and the Great Patriotic War, as well as to support patriotism cultivation among the young generation.

The section activities will involve an exhibition, where archive documents, photos, books and historical artifacts will show the heroic and victorious way of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, and where initiatives for perpetuation of the memory on the war events and heroes will be proposed to ensure civic and national education.

The event will also include an exhibition of documents from the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus and exposition of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The Institute of History of the NASB will show artifacts found during exploration of the Blahaŭščyna Memorial Complex. It is planned that the 52nd special search battalion of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Belarus will provide the artifacts from the Great Patriotic War period. The State Museum of the History of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus will demonstrate the Victory Banners. The event will also involve an exhibition of literature dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.
