33rd Meeting of Council of International Association of the Academies of Sciences

On the 30rd of September, 2020, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (pr. Niezaliežnasci, 66) will host the 33rd Meeting of Council of the International Association of the Academies of Sciences. The meeting will be held as a video conference.

Since 2017, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has been serving as a basic academy of sciences regarding organizational and methodical support for the International Association of the Academies of Sciences. The Association head is the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov. The highest governing body of the International Association of the Academies of Sciences is the IAAS Council. The Association combines 26 organizations from 16 countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Vietnam, Georgia, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Montenegro), including 16 national academies of sciences. The IAAS comprises 23 scientific councils.

The agenda of the IAAS Council Meeting includes wide range of issues regarding the Association activities: the results of the IAAS activities in 2019/2020 and tasks for 2021; introduction of changes into the Regulation on IAAS; granting full membership for some associated IAAS members; approval of Regulation on election of full-fledged members of the IAAS; approval of Model Regulation of the IAAS Scientific Council and approval of a range of scientific councils (a scientific council for science academic development, scientific council for nanotechnologies and nano industry, scientific council for agricultural problems, scientific council for space industry and scientific council for virology), as well as a number of other up-to-date aspects of the organization activities.

A Provision on the Council of Young Scientists of the IAAS created in September 2019 based on the IAAS Council Regulation is to be approved during the event.
