V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany to hold international workshop on dynamics, state and monitoring of forest ecosystems

On 20-25 May 2019, the V.F. Kuprevich Institute of Experimental Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus with the participation of the State Environmental Institution "Braslav Lakes National Park" will hold the 9th International scientific and practical workshop "Dynamics, state and monitoring of forest ecosystems in specially protected natural areas" for students, undergraduates, graduate students, teachers and employees of the specialty "Forestry". The workshop is dedicated to the Year of the Small Motherland in the Republic of Belarus, the Day of Environmental Education (12 May), the International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May), the 100th anniversary of the Moscow Forest Engineering Institute (Moscow State Forest University) and the 75th anniversary of the Institute for Forest Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The workshop is aimed to strengthen scientific ties, develop and expand relations between academies of sciences, leading universities of Belarus and neighbouring countries through scientific cooperation, exchange of experience, joint projects and promotion of environmental education in this speciality.

It is planned to hold scientific and practical classes in the Braslav Lakes National Park, Dvina Experiment Forest Station of the Forest Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Verkhnedvinsk Forestry, where participants will learn about the practice of logging of the main and intermediate use, sanitary and recreational activities, other types of forestry activities, as well as selection and genetic objects of the Institute of Forest of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The workshop will consider proposals and discuss joint projects planned for submission to various funds, government programs (including union), prospects and results of joint grants.

The result of the workshop will be a consolidation of efforts, experience and knowledge of scholars, teachers and practitioners in assessing the effectiveness of restrictions and prohibitions in respect of specially protected natural areas and individual plant world objects.

53 persons registered to participate in the workshop, representing 18 research institutions and universities of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Republika Srpska, Russia and Ukraine.
