The Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is a collegial authority of the Academy of Sciences, which is accountable to the General Meeting of the Academy of Sciences and ensures realization of its decisions. The Presidium of the Academy of Sciences is headed by the Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarus. The composition of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences is formed from the researchers of NAS of Belarus, institutions providing higher education and scientific organizations, as well as heads of state bodies and key specialists of the branches of national economy.

The personal composition of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences is approved by the President of the Republic of Belarus upon the recommendation of the Chairman of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, agreed with the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. The Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences is member of the Presidium by his position. The Vice Chairmen of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences and Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences are appointed to their positions and dismissed from the positions by President of the Republic of Belarus. To the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences composition are included the persons at the age not older than 65 years at the time of appointment.

The executive authority of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences is its Bureau which implement, within the limits of its scope, the operational solution of scientific and scientific-organizational issues of the Academy of Sciences. The Bureau of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences is composed of the Chairman of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences, the Vice Chairmen of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences and the Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy of Sciences.
