New project "Turnkey Scientist-2017" to start at NAS of Belarus on May 29, 2017
On 29 May, at 11:00 a.m., theYoung Scientist School "Turnkey Scientist-2017" will begin its work in the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, vul. Surhanava, 15). The project is held as a part of the Republican plan of events for the Year of Science 2017, and is realized by the NASB Council of Young Scientists.
Call for applications of 8th Republican competition of innovative projects
The State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus with the participation of the Ministry of Education, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the public association "Belarusian Republican Youth Union", and the Belarusian Innovative Foundation holds the 8th Republican competition of innovative projects in two nominations, namely “The Best Innovative Project”, and “The Best Youth Innovative Project”.
Joint meeting of NASB and RAS Presidiums to be held in Minsk
On 26 May 2017, at 10:00 a.m., a joint meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences will be held at the NAS of Belarus (pr. Niezaliežnasci, 66). A representative delegation of the leadership of the Russian Academy of Sciences, headed by the RAS Acting President, Academician Valery V. Kozlov, arrives at Minsk to participate in the event. The delegation includes such famous scientists as Sergey M. Aldoshin, RAS Vice-President, Academician; Alexander L. Aseev, RAS Vice-President, Chairman of the Siberian Branch of the RAS, Academician; Valery N. Charushin, RAS Vice-President, Chairman of the Ural Branch of the RAS, Academician; Evgeny A. Lupyan, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Deputy Director of the RAS Space Research Institute, and others.
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Mongolian Academy of Sciences sign Cooperation Agreement
On 24 May 2017, the Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Academies of Sciences of Belarus and Mongolia was signed by Vladimir G. Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Duger Regdel, President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
The agreement provides for the expansion and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between scientific institutions, exchange of scientists and specialists, participation in international forums, exchange of scientific information, and other forms of cooperation.
BSU invites young scientists to International Scientific Slam
On 23 June 2017, a workshop for all Belarusian participants of the Scientific Slam "Falling Walls" will be held at the BSU. An experienced coach will help everyone to make their speech more professional. The next day, participants from all over Belarus will come together again to present their research projects briefly and vividly at the competition.
Representatives of NASB scientific organizations participate in press conference held in BelPressCenter on eve of Chemist Day
On 23 May 2017, a press-conference on scientific support of chemical industry development, devoted to the Chemist Day, was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus. Representatives of some NASB scientific organizations participated in the press conference. In particular, Vladimir Agabekov, Director of the NASB Institute of Chemistry of New Materials, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, told about the topical developments of his Institute. Activities of the NASB Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry were reported by Tatyana Nevar, Deputy Director for Scientific and Innovative Work of the Institute.
National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Mongolian Academy of Sciences to sign Cooperation Agreement
On 24 May 2017 (Wednesday), the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences will sign a Cooperation Agreement. On 22-26 May 2017, the President of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences Dugar Ragdal is visiting the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This is the first visit of the Head of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences to the Republic of Belarus. Dugar Regdel arrived in Minsk at the invitation of the leadership of the NAS of Belarus. The main purpose of the visit is to hold talks with the leadership of the NAS of Belarus on promising areas of cooperation in the field of science and technologies, and to sign the Agreement on Cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum openes at National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
On 22 May 2017, the Belarusian-Chinese science and technology forum is held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event is organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the administration of the Chinese city of Harbin, the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the Harbin Office for Science and Technology, the National Center for Technology Transfer (Belarus), the Heilongjiang Province Academy of Sciences. The event is organized within the framework of the Promotional Harbin International Exhibition of Scientific and Technical Achievements of the People's Republic of China in Minsk (May 21–26, 2017). Promising avenues and mechanisms of development of Belarusian-Chinese science and technology cooperation as part of the efforts to implement the One Belt, One Road initiative will be discussed at the forum. Over 400 scientists, experts, and specialists from Belarus and China participate in it.
Book culture in context of international contacts to be discussed in Polotsk
22.05.2017 On 24–25 May 2017, under the auspices of the International Association of Academies of Sciences, the 4th International Scientific Conference "Berkovsky Readings. Book Culture in the Context of International Contacts: to the 500th Anniversary of Belarusian Book Printing" will be held in Polotsk.
Academician Sergei Ya. Kilin awarded Gold Medal of NAS of Belarus
18.05.2017 The NASB Chairman Vladimir G. Gusakov awarded the Doctor of Phisics and Mathematics, Professor, Academician Sergei Yakovlevich Kilin with the Gold Medal of the NAS of Belarus “For the Great Contribution to the Development of Science,” which is the highest award of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. According to Decree of the NASB Presidium of 18 May 2017, the award was given for many years of fruitful scientific and organizational activities, a significant contribution to the development of nonlinear optics, quantum optics, and quantum informatics, and in connection with the 65th birth anniversary.
Employee of French Center for Aerospace Research (ONERA) to address NASB scientific community
18.05.2017 On 19 May 2017 (Friday), Mr. Guillaume Hubert, Leading Researcher of the Department of Physics, Measuring Equipment, Environment and Outer Space of the French Center for Aerospace Research (ONERA), will visit the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The purpose of his visit is to make a presentation on effects of natural radiation that affect electronics in the atmosphere and on the ground to the scientific community. The working language is russian.
Nikolai V. Pavlyukevich turns 80 on May 18, 2017
18.05.2017 On 18 May 2017, a famous Belarusian scientist in Thermophysics, Laureate of the A.V. Lykov Prize, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Physics and Mathematics Nikolai V. Pavlyukevich celebrates his 80th anniversary.
A solemn meeting of the Scientific Council of the A.V. Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the NAS of Belarus, devoted to this significant date, will be held on May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the following address: Minsk, vul. P.Broŭki 15, conference room 410.

17.05.2017 On 19 May 2017, Vladimir S. Soldatov, the prominent Belarusian scientist, Honored Worker of Science of the Republic of Belarus, Laureate of the State Prize of the BSSR, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor, turns 80.
