Modern problems of anthropology under social and technogenical transformations are discussed in Institute of History of NAS of Belarus on 28-30 June
On June 28-30, 2016 State Scientific Institution "The Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" holds the International scientific-practical conference "Modern Problems of anthropology under social and technological transformations." The range of issues discussed at the conference included such as the development of methodological principles and methodical approaches in anthropological research; topical issues of paleoanthropology; integrated approaches to the study of adaptive processes in modern populations; the use of data from Humanities and Biomedical Sciences in the analysis of the impact of environmental changes on morphological and functional characteristics of a person. The event was attended by scientists and young specialists from Belarus, Russia, Israel, Poland, Serbia and Italy.
Press conference on the theme "Actual issues of keeping wild animals in captivity" takes place
On June 27, 2016 at 15.00 a press conference on the theme "Actual issues of keeping wild animals in captivity" took place at the Press Center of the Press House. It was attended by Head of the Department of Biological and Landscape Diversity of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Minchenko, consultant of Housing Authority of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Belarus Violetta Andrianova and Director General of State Scientific and Production Amalgamation “The Scientific and Practical Center for Bioresources" Oleg Borodin. During the event, experts told about the nuances of the bill “On the treatment of animals" and answered the questions relating to registration of animals, their acceptable number in residential areas, and responsibility for incorrect keeping.
Republican Unitary Enterprise of NASB "Geoinformation Systems" is 20 years today
On June 27, 2016 Republican Unitary Enterprise (RUE) "Geoinformation Systems" celebrates its 20th anniversary. The Scientific and Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise "Geoinformation Systems" was founded according to Ordinance № 62 of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus dated of 27.06.1996 on the basis of laboratories and departments of the Institute of Technical Cybernetics of the NASB, which were engaged in the developing in the field of digital cartography and GIS technologies. Currently among the main areas of research and enterprise development are theory and practice of creating geographic information systems and systems for Earth remote sensing; methods and processing of aerospace images of the Earth's surface, development and implementation of the geoinformation software and remote sensing systems using remote sensing data, digital maps and location plans, planning and management of imaging of the Earth with remote sensing satellites; methods, algorithms and software for solving applied tasks of economic entities of the Republic of Belarus and foreign consumers using remote sensing data.
NAS of Belarus holds meeting with Guangzhou delegation (China)
On June 24, 2016 a meeting with a Guangzhou delegation (China) led by the Head of Administration of the People's Government of Guangzhou Zhao Nangsian was held in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Also the delegation included representatives from government and research centers for a wide range of areas. From the NASB talks was headed by Aleksandr V. Sukalo, Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium. The guests got acquainted with scientific and production activities of the NASB organizations on physical-technical profile. The parties agreed to reach by the end of 2016 joint negotiations on specific scientific and industrial projects with discussion of the possibilities of their financing and implementation.
NASB Humanitarians takes part in International scientific conference “Turkmenistan is the land abundant with spiritual and cultural values”
From 15 to 18 June 2016 at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan the delegation of scientists from the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus (V. L. Lakiza, O. N. Levko) and from the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus (B. A. Lazuko) took part in the International scientific conference “Turkmenistan is the land abundant with spiritual and cultural values”, as well as the exhibition of works of decorative fine art. The conference was held within the framework of the Interstate CIS program "Dashoguz is the cultural capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2016". The conference was attended by historians, archaeologists, art historians, museum professionals from Turkmenistan, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, representatives of ministries and agencies, academies of sciences and universities, as well as Deputy Chairman of the Executive Committee — CIS Executive Secretary K. Zhusupbekov.
Chairman of NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov speaks at the 5th Belarusian People's Congress
On June 23, 2016 Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of NASB Presidium, spoke at the 5th Belarusian People's Congress. In the speech of the Chairman of the NASB Presidium addressed issues such as formation and development of new research directions, achievements of Belarusian science, innovative economy, and creation of advanced scientific and industrial corporations.
Today science must foresee new strategies and set out new areas for the development of industries, said Vladimir Gusakov. The country is actively developing the scientific framework for new industries that will shape the economy of the future.
Cross-cutting research-and-production associations are created on the basis of efficient R&D. The national scientific and technological park BelBiograd is one of such examples. All documents have been developed, passed an examination and reviewed. Biotechnology is the fastest growing industry in the world. Belarus has already created good infrastructure for this, said Vladimir Gusakov.
Meeting with Chairman of International Committee of Slavists to take place at Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics
On June 30, 2016 a meeting with the Chairman of the International Committee of Slavists Bosko Suvajdzic (Serbia) will take place at the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the Center for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the NAS of Belarus. The meeting will discuss preparations for the XVI International Congress of Slavists, which will be held in 2018 in Belgrade (Serbia).
The International Committee of Slavists is a major international public research organization, which was composed of representatives of national committees of Slavists from forty countries and which coordinates scientific research in the field of Slavic studies in the world. The International Committee of Slavists is engaged in the preparation and holding of international congresses of Slavists.
Protocol on the visit of joint delegation from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and JSC China CAMC Engineering Corporation is signed
On June 22, 2016 the Protocol on the visit of joint delegation from Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and JSC China CAMC Engineering Corporation to the Republic of Belarus was signed in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. From the NASB the document was signed by Petr Kazakevich, Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium.
The delegation headed by Wan Dunyang Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences visited our country in the period from 16 to 22 June 2016 at the invitation of Vladimir G. Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium. Aim of the visit was to get acquainted with developments of the NASB organizations and to hold negotiations on prospective areas, the mechanisms of the Belarusian-Chinese scientific and technical cooperation in the field of agriculture and joint work in the framework of the project of high-tech agro-industrial complex of full cycle in the Republic of Belarus.
Reception for delegation of business sector of Republic of Korea held in NAS of Belarus
On June 22, 2016 a reception for a delegation of business sector of the Republic of Korea, headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Kim Yong Ho was held in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Also the delegation included representatives of Ulsan Government, the Ministry of Industry and Energy, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Ulsan Technopark, various industrial and scientific organizations. From the NASB talks were headed by the First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik.
Belarusian-Chinese agricultural microbiology center opened in Harbin
On June 17, 2016 the official opening ceremony of the Belarusian-Chinese microbiology center was held In Harbin (China).
The founders of the new agency are the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Microbiology Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Heilongjiang Province. The operation of the agricultural microbiology center will be aimed at mutually beneficial cooperation for the sake of ensuring great economic effects from introducing and commercializing biotechnologies.
ALLEA Council meeting takes place in National Academy of Sciences of Belarus
On June 20, 2016 the meeting of the Council of the Federation of All European Academies (ALLEA) took place in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Council delegation headed by the President of the Association of European Academies of Sciences (ALLEA) Gunther Stock has arrived to Minsk. Among members of the council are representatives of the Academies of Sciences of Germany, Austria, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland and other countries. The meeting considered issues related to the organization of scientific activity in Europe.
NAS of Belarus holds scientific-technical workshop with representatives of Huawei Corporation
On June 20, 2016 a joint workshop on science, technology and innovation cooperation with the representatives of Huawei Corporation was held under the leadership of the First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik. The Huawei delegation included the President of the European Research Center Huawei Zhou Hong, Director of the offices of the company in Shenzhen and Sweden, managers and experts in the different areas of technological activity. At the workshop the parties discussed prospective directions of cooperation and mechanisms for their implementation. Huawei Company representatives expressed interest in the development of the NASB organizations for their use in the improvement of plastic coatings and coatings screens for cell phones, batteries production technology and cooling systems for portable equipment.
Minsk to host ALLEA Council meeting 20-21 June 2016
On June 20, 2016 (Monday) at 15.00 the opening of the meeting of the Council of the Federation of All European Academies (ALLEA) will take place in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Nezavisimosti Ave., 66). Attending the meeting, which will be held in Minsk 21 – 22 June 2016, will be ALLEA President Gunter Stock and members of the council — representatives of the Academies of Sciences of Germany, Austria, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Finland, Switzerland and other countries. The meeting will consider issues related to the organization of scientific activity in Europe, the formation of the Pan-European research space and also new areas of cooperation between the NAS of Belarus and the European scientific organizations.
NAS of Belarus holds a meeting with delegation of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
On June 16, 2016 a meeting of Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov with a delegation of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences headed by the Director of the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development Wan Dunyang took place in the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The parties held talks on prospects of cooperation and mechanisms for their implementation. Vladimir Gusakov invited colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Corporation CAMCE to participate in projects of a new technopark "Belbiograd".
Meeting with participants of the 8th Belarusian Antarctic expedition takes place in NAS of Belarus
On June 10, 2016 Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov and scientific community officially welcomed participants of the eighth Belarusian Antarctic expedition.
Vladimir Gusakov praised the work of the expedition: "Today following a long-standing tradition we are welcome and thank our fellow - explorers. The expedition returned, all alive and well. All collected materials collected will be submitted to a special commission. I think that will be enough work for a year — until the next expedition," said the Chairman of the Presidium.
First Vice Chairman of NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik meets with Director General of Toshin Kogyo Ltd.
On June 10, 2016 First Vice Chairman of the NASB Presidium Sergei Chizhik held talks with the Director General of the Japanese company Toshin Kogyo Ltd. S. Suzuki. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Department of Physical-Engineering Sciences of the NAS of Belarus. The parties discussed the possibilities and mechanisms of cooperation in the field of materials science, surface hardening technology, machining and cutting, as well as testing physical properties of metals.

International school-conference for young scientists and specialists "Modern problems of physics" works in B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics
On June 8-10, 2016, the International school-conference for young scientists and specialists "Modern problems of physics" takes place in the B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus. Opening the event Director of the B. I. Stepanov Institute of Physics of the NAS of Belarus, Academician Nikolay S. Kazak noted the wide geography of conference participants — in addition to representatives of scientific and educational institutions of Belarus, the program claimed participants from universities of St. Petersburg, Saratov, and Voronezh — only about 60 reports.
