Seminar on implementation in Belarus SIS AITS is held at NAS of Belarus
On December 5, 2016 the NAS of Belarus hosted a seminar "On implementation in the Republic of Belarus the state information system of identification, registration and traceability of farm animals (herds), identification and traceability of products of animal origin".
The event was attended by representatives of the Committee on Agriculture and Food of the regional executive committees, experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, experts from the State Institution "Centre of Information Systems in Animal Breeding" and experts from the State Unitary Enterprise "Centre for Identification Systems" of the NAS of Belarus.
During the seminar the possibilities of the state information system of identification, registration, traceability of animals and products of animal origin in the Republic of Belarus were demonstrated, the problematic issues, including the issue of giving the status of the AITS GIS component of the national system of traceability of products of animal origin for interaction with information systems of other states EAEU members in cross-border trade, were discussed.
2nd Eurasian forum of young scientists (YESForum) hosts in Almaty on 17-18 November
On November 17-18, 2016 the 2nd Eurasian forum of young scientists (YES-Forum) took place in Almaty. Forum format is significantly different from the traditional scientific conferences. YES-Forum is focused on scientific breakthroughs, innovative projects and socio-economic dynamics in the context of development of integration processes in the Eurasian space. Projects represented at the Forum were interdisciplinary in nature, with a clear practical orientation and carried out by authors' team from at least two EAEU countries. During the year the organizing Committee received more than 100 projects in three areas (Material Science, Life Science and Social Science), which have been carefully selected. Fifteen best were presented at the pitch session to interest investors and attract funding for commercialization of their project.
NAS of Belarus and Polish Academy of Sciences conclude agreement on cooperation in science
On December 5, 2016 the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Polish Academy of Sciences concluded an agreement on cooperation in science. The document was signed by Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov and President of the Polish Academy of Sciences Jerzy Duszynski. The ceremony was attended by Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and the Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Stanislaw Karczewski.
The document was signed during a visit of President of the Polish Academy of Sciences Jerzy Duszynski to the NAS of Belarus. The main purpose of the visit was to hold talks with the NASB leadership on the promising areas of cooperation and mechanisms of expanding the Belarusian-Polish scientific ties. Delegation members of the Polish Academy of Sciences got acquainted with the NASB permanent exhibition "Domestic scientific achievements for manufacturers", held talks with the NASB leadership, visited a number of scientific organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus: the Institute of Genetics and Cytology, the Institute of Physiology, the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering, Museum of NASB history.
Young Belarusian scientists take part in intellectual battles at "Science Hit"
On December 2, 2016 the second round of the competition "Science Hit" was held in Minsk in Hi-Tech Park. "Science Hit" is the first Belarusian project in the scientific battles format where scientists clearly and simply present their scientific ideas and talk about their research from the stage. The scientific battles were attended by young scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, experts from universities and research subdivisions of healthcare institutions. The event was held with the support of the Council of young scientists of the NAS of Belarus, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus, EPAM Systems, EPAM-Garage, Hi-Tech Park.
Antiquities of Belarus and adjacent territories of 3rd to 1st millennium BC to be discussed at conference at NASB Institute of History
On December 1-2, 2016 the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Antiquities of Belarus and Adjacent Territories of 3rd to 1st Millennium BC: a New Look and Interpretations (on the 80th Anniversary of the Study of Krivinsky Peat Settlements)” will be held at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. This scientific forum will be attended by well-known archaeologists from Germany, France, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.

Conference “System «Science – Technologies – Innovations»: Methodology, Experience, Perspectives” to be held at NAS of Belarus
On December 1, 2016 the International Scientific and Practical Conference “System «Science – Technologies – Innovations»: Methodology, Experience, Perspectives” will be held at the NAS of Belarus. The Center of System Analysis and Strategic Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the Forum organizer.
Scientists and specialists from Belarus and Russia will discuss current trends, patterns and forecasts of further scientific and technical spheres development, as well as processes of diffusion of technologies in the system "science-production". Problems of resources and infrastructure of innovative development will also be discussed.

Belarusian scientist awarded highest award of National Engineering Academy of Republic of Kazakhstan
The advisor to the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Academician Pyotr Nikitenko has been awarded a Gold Medal which is the highest scientific award of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The scientist has been honored for his great contribution to the development and implementation of innovative political and economic noospheric model of socio-economic, scientific and technological development of Kazakhstan. The Gold Medal is the highest degree of recognition of the scientist’s work and one of the most prestigious awards in this field in Kazakhstan.
Pyotr Nikitenko was awarded the Gold Medal in the city of Almaty during anniversary events at the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan which were devoted to the 25th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Academy and were held on November 24-27, 2016.
Current problems and prospects of contemporary Belarusian textual criticism discussed at Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature
On November 22–23, 2016 the first Republican Scientific and Practical Conference "Contemporary Belarusian Textual Criticism, Its Current Problems and Prospects of Development" was held at the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature of the NASB Centre for Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research.
The conference was attended by prominent Belarusian and Ukrainian scientists. At the conference many problems of textual criticism were discussed, among them there were problematic issues of contemporary and historical textual criticism; the relationship of textual criticism to literary and historical process; preparation of complete works with scientific commentaries taking into account national specificities; textual criticism and editorial practice, and others. At the conference the exhibition "Textual Criticism is My Profession ..." was organized.
Sardinian and Belarusian diets discussed at International Scientific Seminar at NAS of Belarus
On November 25, 2016 the International Scientific Seminar “Comparison of Sardinian Mediterranean Diet and Belarusian Diet in Order to Maintain Health and Active Lifestyle in the Elderly” was held at the NAS of Belarus. The event was organized during the International Week of Italian Cuisine with the scientific support of the Global Community of Longevity. The purpose of the meeting of Belarusian and Italian scientists was to exchange information on the relationship between nutrition and healthy, active lifestyle in the elderly.
13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in Science - 2016" starts at NAS of Belarus
The 13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in Science - 2016" started its work at the NAS of Belarus. As the Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir Gusakov pointed out in his speech at the opening of the event, that year scientific papers from more than 420 people were submitted and the geography of the conference participants expanded. Thus there were reports from Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and France. Addressing young scientists, Vladimir Gusakov also emphasized the need to lay solid foundations in fundamental areas.
The conference will continue its work within 16 sections. As a part of the 13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in Science - 2016" a round table on international scientific and technical cooperation of young scientists will be held.
Director of Institute of Human Brain of RAS Academician Svyatoslav V. Medvedev to hold a lecture about mysteries of human brain
The Science & Innovations journal with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Belarusian Republican Gerontological Public Association organizes a public lecture titled “Stories about the brain” by a well-known Russian physiologist, Director of the Institute of Human Brain of the RAS, Academician Svyatoslav V. Medvedev. The lecturer will speak on the ways the brain manages the human psyche, about possible impacts on our minds and ways of manipulating them, as well as about many other mysteries related to mental activity of people.
The meeting with S.V. Medvedev will be held on November 24, 2016 at 2.00 p.m. at the following address: Minsk, 66 Independence Avenue, Conference Room.
Academician Sergey V. Ablameyko awarded Gold medal of NAS of Belarus
The Chairman of the NASB Presidium Vladimir G. Gusakov awarded the Rector of the Belarusian State University, Grand PhD in Technical sciences, Professor, Academician Sergey V. Ablameyko with the Gold Medal of the NAS of Belarus “For the Great Contribution to the Development of Science,” which is the highest award of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
In accordance with the NASB Presidium Decree No. 53 dated October 11, 2016, Sergey V. Ablameyko has been awarded "for the outstanding contribution to the development of theory and methods of processing and recognition of images and principles of construction of the automated systems of processing graphics data, for many years of fruitful scientific, organizational and pedagogical activities".
On November 22-25, 2016 NAS of Belarus to hold 13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in Science - 2016"
On November 22, 2016 a solemn opening of the 13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in science - 2016" will be held at the NAS of Belarus. The forum will be attended by over 300 young scientists, graduate students, undergraduates, students and pupils from all over Belarus, as well as young researchers from such countries as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and France. The Conference program includes approximately 350 reports. As a part of the 13th International Scientific Conference "Youth in Science – 2016"a round table on international scientific and technical cooperation of young scientists will be held.
NASB to present its achievements at exhibition in New Delhi 14-27 November 2016
More than 50 Belarusian companies, including the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, demonstrate their products at the exhibition in New Delhi (India), 14-27 November 2016.
Scientific and technical developments of the NASB organizations and Ministry of education are presented at the collective stand of State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus. In particular, polymer materials for 3D printers, optical systems, medical implants and instruments for traumatology and osteosynthesis, filters to trap blood clots.
During the business program of the national exposition presentation of the participating companies and their products, as well as holding matchmaking and B2B negotiations are planned.
Fifteenth International conference "The development of informatization and state system of scientific and technical information"(DISTI’2016) to be held in United Institute of Informatics Problems of NAS of Belarus
On November 17, 2016 at 10.00 the opening of the 15th International conference "The development of informatization and state system of scientific and technical information" (DISTI’2016) will take place in the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, 6 Surganov Street). The forum will bring together leading experts in information technologies from Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.
The conference will address the following issues: analysis of the status and development problems of informatization and state system of scientific and technical information in the Republic of Belarus and abroad; development of new approaches to scientific and methodological support of informatization development, the development of information technology and information infrastructure in Belarus; the implementation of the development strategy of informatization in the Republic of Belarus for the years 2016 to 2022. Much attention will be paid to the design of automated systems of scientific and technical information, creation of corporate library and information systems and technologies.
Problems of burial monuments studying discussed in NASB Institute of history
On November 9-11, 2016 an International scientific-practical conference «Post mortem. Burial monuments in the historical-cultural space: study and preservation problems." took place at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
The problem field of the conference brought together experts from different fields: archaeologists, historians, anthropologists, ethnographers, culturologists from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine. Director of the Institute of history of the NAS of Belarus Vyacheslav Danilovich pointed out on this fact in his opening remarks. "Only together, through the analysis of different sciences we may reach conclusions of a high degree of evidence", Vyacheslav Danilovich said. The reports presented information about burial monuments from Paleolithic times to the Second World War.
Ambassador of Republic of Korea in Republic of Belarus visits NASB Researchers Training Institute
On November 9, 2016 the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Belarus Mr. Kim Yong Ho visited State Educational Institution "The Researchers Training Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus" at the invitation of its rector I. Gancherenok.
I. Gancherenok familiarized the guests with the Institute's activities and possible areas of cooperation with potential Korean partners in the development and implementation of innovative master's programs, internships and academic mobility.
Kim Yong Ho, for his part, described the scope of cooperation with the Institute in the field of training of scientific personnel, development of joint educational programs and the commercialization of scientific developments as promising.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector D. Primshits, the head of the chair of Information Technology I. Bogdanova, Associate Professor A. Shemarov.
Belarusian specialists invited to participate in ERA-NET Cofund Electric Mobility Europe Call 2016 competition
The ERA-NET Cofund Electric Mobility Europe project being realized under HORIZON 2020 programm announces the Call 2016 content. The ERA-NET project is aimed at coordination of research programs of primarily European Union countries in order to obtain the most effective "breakthrough" innovations at least cost and to involve the most qualified and competitive teams from different countries. The Call 2016 content follows a two-step submission and evaluation procedure, starting now with the submission of light proposals. In a next step a full proposal submission will follow for those proposals selected from the light proposal evaluation. Deadline for the submission of light proposals is February 6, 2017.

Team of young scientists of NAS of Belarus takes 4th place in Composite Battle World Cup Kazan 2016
Young scientists from the NASB team “CompAs” have taken the 4th place in the World Cup in Composites called Composite Battle World Cup Kazan 2016 (Kazan, Russian Federation).
In 2015 the youth team of the NAS of Belarus “CompAS” passed the competitive selection of the Championship of Russia in Composites for young specialists of enterprises and university students called “Composite Battle”. The team included representatives from the Joint Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Scientific and Production Center of Multipurpose Unmanned Systems of the NAS of Belarus. The championship program included the Brain Ring intellectual competitions, technological competitions in manufacturing products from composites, engineering and calculation of the strength of the composite structure, and business cases, namely competitions of ideas concearning commercialization of composite developments. In addition, the participants of the championship represented their "homeworks" including a video about the team and a business case. They also participated in the Captains competition.
