GNILOMEDOV Vladimir Vasilyevich

Vladimir Vasilyevich Gnilomedov (b. 26.12.1937, v. Krugel, Kamenetsky district, Brest region), literary critic and writer. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2003; correspondent member since 1994), Doctor of Philological Sciences (1987), Professor (1991).

Studies in the field of history, theory and methodology of Belarusian literature and literary criticism. The central place in the works is occupied by the Belarusian literature of the 20th century as one of the most important forms of national spiritual and aesthetic consciousness. He studied the dialectical connection of the general laws of the development of literature with the dynamics of individual ideological and artistic searches in the works of Y. Kupala, Y. Kolas, M. Bogdanovich, I. Melezh, A. Kuleshov, P. Brovka, M. Tank, P. Panchenko, etc. He revealed social, spiritual and biographical factors that have a decisive influence on the formation of the personality of the writer, the development of his artistic world, and the growth of his skills. The author of the novels "Ulis s Pruski" (2006), "Rasia" (2007), "Vyrtane" (2008).

Author of over 300 literary and critical articles, 11 monographs.

Literary Prize named after V. Kolesnik in 1996 for the book "Yanka Kupala: A New Look" (1995). Prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2005).

Awarded with the Order of Francisk Skaryna (2009), medals.
