SHEYKO Ivan Pavlovich

Ivan Pavlovich Sheyko (b. 10.02.1948, v. Sheyki, Kletsk district, Minsk region), a scientist in the field of animal breeding. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2003), Academician of the Academy of Agrarian Sciences of the Republic of Belarus (1996-2002), foreign member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1999). Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1987), Professor (1991). Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus (1998).

Scientific works in the field of breeding, selection, genetics and reproduction of farm animals. Completed the fundamental work on the creation and development of technologies for the production of competitive livestock products based on the improvement of existing and creation of new breeds, types, lines, hybrids, crosses, reproduction methods, feeding and housing systems. He developed theoretical, methodical and practical problems of increasing the productive qualities of farm animals. Based on comprehensive studies on the breeding, selection and reproduction of animals, modeling of the selection process, and economic analysis, he proposed a theoretical generalization of the features of the selection process when breeding specialized types, lines and breeds of pigs with selection for compatibility. With his direct participation, the Belarusian meat breed of pigs, the Belarusian black-and-white breed of cattle and the Belarusian sled horse breed were bred and tested. Developed a technology for producing highly productive hybrids and pig crosses.

Author of over 480 works, incl. 9 monographs and 10 books, 44 patents for inventions.
