URBAN Eroma Petrovich

Eroma Petrovich Urban (b. 30.07.1954, v. Burbovshchina, Volozhin district, Minsk region) - a scientist-breeder. Corresponding Member (2017), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (2006), Associate Professor (2003).

Research in the field of breeding, seed production and cultivation of agricultural plants. Identified priority areas for creating winter rye varieties, developed and implemented effective methods for using the method of experimental polyploidy, donors of dominant and recessive short stemness, winter hardiness, early ripening, disease resistance, quality of grains in the selection process of winter rye. He developed, experimentally tested and introduced the method of complex hybrid populations in the selection process, which allows to increase the efficiency of selection and create competitive adaptive varieties of winter rye with high productivity (10 t / ha of grain and above), lodging resistance, disease resistance, grain quality. For the first time in Belarus, he studied systems of cytoplasmic male sterility in winter rye, created heterotic linear-population F1 hybrids (Galinka, Plisa, Lobel 103) with a yield potential of more than 10.0 t / ha. Developed methodological recommendations on the breeding and seed production of heterotic F1 hybrids of winter rye, industry regulations for the cultivation of winter rye for grain and green fodder. Author 24 varieties and hybrids of winter rye.

Author of more than 160 scientific papers, including 3 monographs, 15 patents for varieties.
