Vladimir Alekseevich Bely (08.06.1922, Krasnodar, Russia - 17.08.1994), a scientist in the field of mechanics of metal-polymer systems. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1972; Corresponding Member since 1969), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (1971), Professor (1971). Honored Inventor of the BSSR (1967). Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the BSSR (1978). In 1975-1985 - Deputy of the Supreme Council of the BSSR.

Scientific studies on the relationship of molecular and supramolecular structures of polymers with their physico-mechanical properties, friction and wear of polymers. Created new microtribometric methods for studying polymers. Developed the basics of calculating and designing metal-polymer products.

Author of more than 750 scientific papers, incl. 11 monographs, about 350 copyright certificates and patents.

State Prize of the BSSR in 1972 for the development of the theoretical foundations of the creation of friction materials and structures made of polymers and metal polymers. For research in the field of friction and wear of polymers, he was awarded the Vaucanson Medal (1968) and Zhacarre Medal by the French Scientific-Engineering Society (1970).

Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1979), the October Revolution (1971), the Red Banner of Labor (1967), medals.
