DEMIDCHIK Yuri Evgenievich

Yuri Evgenievich Demidchik (14.03.1958 – 13.03.2017) — a scientist in the field of oncology. Corresponding Member (2009). Doctor of Medical Sciences (1998), Professor (2002). Excellence in Healthcare of the Republic of Belarus.

Scientific works are devoted to the study of molecular genetic mechanisms of the pathogenesis of thyroid carcinomas and ovaries, the development of new methods of diagnosis, treatment and prognosis in oncology. He studied the pathogenesis and clinical course of thyroid cancer, performed a series of works on improving the treatment of this disease. He proposed new methods of diagnosing this neoplasm, based on the analysis of the expression of marker genes in the material of aspiration biopsies. He developed methods for treating patients with forms of metastatic medullary thyroid cancer that are refractory to cytostatics and substantiated the implementation of mediastinal lymph node dissection in this category of patients. Created a comprehensive technology for the restoration of the abdominal wall using cellular autotransplantation of mesenchymal stem cells from adipose tissue in patients with postoperative ventral hernias of large and giant size.
