GARKUSHA Ivan Fedoseevich

Ivan Fedoseevich Garkusha (29.04.1896, v. Gorodishche, Gorodishchi district, Kiev region, Ukraine - 08.08.1970), soil scientist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1961), Academician of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the BSSR (1959-1961), Doctor of Agricultural Sciences (1954), Professor (1954). Honored Scientist of the BSSR (1956).

Scientific works in the field of agronomic soil science, geography, genesis, fertility and evolution of sod-podzolic and peat-marsh soils under the influence of cultivation.

Author of more than 90 scientific papers, incl. 5 monographs.

Prize named after V.R. Vilyams (1947, 1957) for the textbook "Soil Science" (Moscow, 1940; 6th ed., 1962) and the monograph "Soil culture as the modern stage of soil formation" (Moscow, 1956).

Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1961), the Red Banner of Labor (1958), the Badge of Honor (1949), medals.
