KLIMUK Petr Ilyich

Petr Ilyich Klimuk (b. 10.07.1942, v. Komarovka (now Tomashovka), Brest district) - pilot-cosmonaut, a scientist in the field of technical sciences. Honorary Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2017). Academician of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics named after K. E. Tsiolkovsky (1991), academician of the International Academy of Informatics (2000), corresponding member of the International Academy of Astronautics (1999), Doctor of Engineering Sciences (2000). Hero of the Soviet Union (1973, 1975), pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR (1973). Colonel-General Aviation (1998). Freeman of Brest (1974), Brest region (2009) and Brest region. Honorary Citizen of Kaluga (Russia), Gagarin (Russia), Dzhezkazgan (Kazakhstan), Kremenchug (Ukraine), Chernigov (Ukraine).

Scientific works on the spectrophotography of stars and active regions of the Sun in the ultraviolet range, multispectral shooting of the earth's surface, methods of orientation and stabilization of spacecraft.

State Prize of the Estonian SSR (1977) for the results of the study of silver clouds and the surface of the Earth using an infrared tele-radiometer Micron from the "Salyut-4" orbital research station. Prize of Lenin Komsomol (1978) for the script of the documentary “Ordinary Space”. State Prize of the USSR (1978) for a series of works on the medical substantiation and implementation of a set of methods and means of preventing the adverse effects of weightlessness on the human body, which made it possible to carry out long manned space flights. State Prize of the Russian Federation (2001) for the work “Motion control in case of sensory impairments in microgravity conditions and information support of the maximin quality control of visual stabilization of space objects”.
