Baiba Arvidovna Rivza (b. 01.12.1949, Ventspils, Latvia) - economist, political and statesman. Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2017). Academician of the Latvian Academy of Agricultural and Forest Sciences (1992), Latvian Academy of Sciences (1999; Corresponding Member since 1995), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1991–1992), Foreign Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Agricultural Sciences (1992–2014), Foreign Member of the Florence Academy of Agriculture (2002), the Royal Swedish Academy of Forestry and Agriculture (2005), the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences (2007), the Russian Academy of Sciences (2014). Doctor of Economic Sciences (1990), Doctor Habilitated (1992).

Scientific studies are devoted to the issues of social development of the village and rural development, agricultural entrepreneurship, regional development, risks, market research, the development of microcredit systems for women. A number of papers cover issues of higher education..

Leninsky Komsomol Prize of Latvia (1980).

Awarded with the Order of the Three Stars of the IV degree (2000), the Big Medal of the Latvian Academy of Sciences (2017).
