On April 26, 2023, the Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted the grand opening of the VII Congress of Physicists of Belarus, dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Academician B.I. Stepanov.

The Forum, organized by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, the Institute of Physics named after B.I. Stepanov of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State University, the Belarusian Physical Society and the Belarusian Republican Foundation for Fundamental Research, takes place on April 26–28, 2023.

As Sergey Chizhik, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, noted during the opening ceremony of the Congress, the results of the research of Belarusian physicists are of interest and highly appreciated all over the world. "The Institute of Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus is the institution that brings fame to our country. In particular, we are developing laser technique and laser technologies well. This direction continues to be actively improved in our country. I would also like to note that the works of our physicists are well cited, and they also have a large number of awards," Sergey Chizhik said.

At the Congress, participants discuss the development of physics in our country, reports by leading scientists are heard and discussions are held on increasing the role of physics in the life of society. The forum is expected to discuss a wide range of physical issues in the following areas: physics of fundamental interactions; laser physics and photonics; physics of nanostructures, solids and semiconductors; plasma physics; biophysics; physics and informatics; teaching physics and training in the specialty Physics.
