Project The Science of Art and the Art of Science

On May 12, 2023, the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus hosted an exhibition of works of art and digital art objects Classics & Digital Art, as well as an open lecture The Temptation of Artificial Intelligence, Man and Creativity within the framework of the project of the Institute of Philosophy of the NAS of Belarus The Science of Art and the Art of Science.

Ilya Volnov, Director of the Centre for Technological Support of Education at the Moscow Polytechnic University, Candidate of Technological Sciences, Associate Professor, curator of Science-Art educational programs at the Moscow Polytechnic University and Science-Art exhibition projects, Honorary Worker of Education of the Russian Federation, discussed in his lecture the problems of the development of artificial intelligence, its impact on life, creativity, human consciousness, man, his socio-cultural and everyday practices. Interpretations of the creative process were made taking into account the comparison of the strengths and weaknesses of AI and human consciousness, their reflections in scientific and artistic activities in the conditions of modern technocratic development of society were demonstrated. Examples and objects of art from various fields of culture, created on the basis of inter- and transdisciplinary approaches, reflecting the strengths of human consciousness and its infinite potential in comparison with AI, were also presented for consideration.

The exhibition featured works of art by Svetlana Doronina, a Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, and digital art objects by Andrey Kolesnikov, Head of the Department of Philosophy of Information and Cognitive Processes at the Institute of Philosophy, Candidate of Philosophy, Associate Professor. The audience got acquainted with the authors of artistic and digital works, learned about the concept of the exhibition, about the specifics and ideas of creating Digital Art and their connection with scientific research of cosmosociodynamics, mathematical formulas and computer models.
