On July 18–28, 2023, a delegation of representatives of the NAS of Belarus organizations visited Cuba, during which eight cooperation agreements were signed.

So, during the meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba, Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the NAS of Belarus and the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba (signed by the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Vasily Gursky and Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Cuba Maury Echevarria Bermudez) and the Ministry of the Food Industry of Cuba (signed by the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Vasily Gursky and Deputy Minister of the Food Industry of Cuba Javier Aguiar Rodriguez). Agriculture Minister Ydael Jesus Perez Brito and Food Industry Minister Manuel Sobrino Martinez took part in the talks.

A meeting was held with Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca, who oversees the agro-food sector of Cuba. The parties summed up the results and noted the significant potential for the bilateral cooperation development. An agreement on scientific and technical cooperation was signed between the Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus on Livestock and Cuba Ron S.A. in the field of the use of rum production waste in the technology of feeding farm animals.

In order to further develop cooperation, members of the delegation of the NAS of Belarus visited a number of enterprises and organizations in Cuba. Among them: the Havana dairy complex and the Café Selecto factory, the Research Center for Breeding Livestock in the Tropics, an agricultural company in Bacuranao, a livestock organization for breeding Maine-Anjou cows; the Labiofam company (a cooperation agreement was signed between the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry and Labiofam). The acquaintance with the work of the Food Industry Research Institute (IIIA) became fruitful. Cooperation agreements were signed between the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry and IIIA, as well as between the Scientific and Practical Center of the NAS of Belarus on Food and IIIA.

Members of the delegation took part in socially significant events of the Cuban side. The Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Vasily Gursky made a report Macro-Program on Science, Technology and Innovation of the National Plan for Socio-Economic Development of Cuba until 2030: Its Role in the Management of Science, Technology and Innovation, at the international conference which was conducted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. In the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba, the Chief Scientific Secretary of the NAS of Belarus Vasily Gursky made a report Development Strategy of the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Republic of Belarus: Scientific Support and Implementation Mechanisms to the heads of organizations and officials of the agro-food sector of Cuba.
