On August 15 – the Day of the Archaeologist – the scientists of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus held their professional holiday at the archaeological complex on the Mienka river in the village of Garadzishcha, Minsk district. Large-scale research is conducted here under the leadership of the Institute of History, which participants are scientists, students, and volunteers from all over the country.

At the archaeological complex, master classes were organized by experienced archaeologists on cleaning the cultural layer, archaeological excavations of a Large site of ancient town under the guidance of employees of the Institute of History, an exhibition of the latest artifacts, a performance by the historical reconstruction club Volat. There was also a field seminar on the issues of the archaeological heritage of Belarus and historical and cultural tourism, as well as a round table Integration of the Archaeological Heritage of Belarus into the Tourism Sector. The events were attended by archaeologists of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus; volunteer students of Minsk; scientists, members of the United Branch Trade Union Organization of Employees of the NAS of Belarus; heads (representatives) of tourism organizations, employees of the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, of the National Agency for Tourism, tour guides, guide-interpreters, teachers of tourism disciplines.

The National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus hosted a press conference Development of Modern Belarusian Archaeology dedicated to the Day of the Archaeologist. The speakers were: Vadim Lakiza, Director of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus, Alexey Avlasovich, Head of the Center of Archeology of Belarus of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus and Olga Drevilo, researcher of the Department of Preservation and Use of Archaeological Heritage of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus. They told about some of the results of their field research, interesting finds and unique artifacts.
