On October 11, 2023, a press conference dedicated to the Day of the Pharmaceutical and Microbiological Industry Workers was held at the National Press Center of the Republic of Belarus on the topic: The Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry in Belarus: the Popularity of Domestic Drugs. On behalf of the NAS of Belarus, the press conference was attended by Emilia I. Kolomiets, Director General of the State Scientific and Production Association Chemical Synthesis and Biotechnology, and Elena N. Kalinichenko, Deputy Director of the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the NAS of Belarus. In her speech, Emilia Ivanovna noted among the promising developments the fields of biopharmaceutics, agrobiotechnologies, environmental biotechnologies, DNA sequencing and nanotechnology. Elena Nikolaevna spoke about the drugs being developed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis, oncological drugs used for targeted therapy, and shared plans for a joint project with Russian colleagues. At the end of the press conference, NAS scientists congratulated their colleagues on their professional holiday and answered numerous questions from journalists.

The Day of the Pharmaceutical and Microbiological Industry Workers in the Republic of Belarus was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 157 of March 26, 1998 and is celebrated annually on October 15.
