On October 26–27, 2023, the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus hosted the international scientific conference Socio-Economic History of Soviet Belarus (1917–1991).

The conference in a mixed format, combining face-to-face and remote (online) reports and participation in the discussion, was attended by leading social scientists of Belarus, as well as colleagues from foreign countries. A number of important issues was discussed at the conference. Among them: industrial development and agriculture of Soviet Belarus; transport and information and communication sphere; scientific component of modernization and development of the economy of Soviet Belarus; the process of urbanization and urban development; comprehension of the historical experience of modernization of the economy of Soviet Belarus: methodology, concepts, periodization; the economy of Soviet Belarus in the All-Union and world division of labor, etc.

According to the organizers, the main objectives of the international forum are to familiarize with scientific developments and practical achievements of humanities scientists on the problems of the economic history of the BSSR; to improve the interaction of academic and university science on topical issues of the development of domestic socio-humanitarianism; to strengthen the connection of science with educational institutions; to organize and to manage creative initiatives of students on topical issues of studying history.
