Delegation of the NAS of Belarus takes part in the third meeting of the ANSO General Assembly, in the first conference on scientific and technical exchanges Belt and Road and visits the Shandong Province Academy of Sciences

The delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Academician S. A. Chizhik took part in the third meeting of the General Assembly of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), which was held on November 4–5, 2023 in Chongqing (China). The NAS of Belarus has been a member of ANSO since its foundation (2018). Currently, 78 organizations from 55 states are members of ANSO. On November 4, new ANSO members were approved, amendments to the ANSO Charter were supported in order to further improve the work of the Alliance, and elections of a new ANSO president, two vice-presidents and 6 new members of the Governing Council were held. The previous head of ANSO, ex-President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Bai Chunli, has completed his powers due to the expiration of two terms of leadership of the Association (the maximum period under the ANSO Charter). The head of the National Science and Technology Development Agency of Thailand (NSTDA) Sukit Limpijumnong has been elected the new president of ANSO. On November 5, speeches were made by the heads of a number of delegations, during which the head of the delegation of the NAS of Belarus, Academician S. A. Chizhik, presented the main directions and results of the activities of the NAS of Belarus in advanced branches of science and technology, as well as areas in which it is advisable for the NAS of Belarus and ANSO members to combine efforts to promote scientific results in the economy of the ANSO member states.

On November 6–7, the delegation of the NAS of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium Academician S. A. Chizhik took part in the first Belt and Road conference on scientific and technical exchanges (Chongqing, China), organized by the Government of the People's Republic of China. The conference was chaired by the Minister of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China Yin Hejun. At the opening ceremony of the conference, the address of the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to the scientific community was announced, which was presented by the First Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexiang. It was noted that the next stage of the development of the One Belt, One Road initiative will be based on science and scientific and technological exchange. At the round table of the conference, as one of the five speakers (the only one from the CIS states), S. A. Chizhik presented the main achievements of the NAS of Belarus and promising areas of cooperation of the Academy with Chinese partners.

On November 8–9, the delegation of the NAS of Belarus headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Academician S. A. Chizhik visited the Shandong Province Academy of Sciences in Jinan. A meeting was held with its President Wang Yinglong and the heads of the Academy's departments. During the negotiations, the parties discussed areas and mechanisms for further cooperation and the implementation of the agreement signed in September 2023. Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus Vladimir G. Gusakov and President of the Shandong Province Academy of Sciences Wang Yinglong of the Program of Cooperation between the two academies for 2024–2025. The delegation visited the Shandong Center for Analysis and Testing and the recently opened Supercomputer Center, which are parts of the Shandong Province Academy of Sciences, where it worked out possible areas of interaction with organizations of the NAS of Belarus.
