On November 15, 2023, the first meeting of the Expert Advisory Russian-Belarusian Council on History (EAC) was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event was opened by Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission on Historical Education, and Igor Lutsky, Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Council on History Policy under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus. Academic Secretary of the Department of Humanities and Arts of the NAS of Belarus Alexander Kovalenya and Director of the Institute of History of the NAS of Belarus Vadim Lakiza presented the most significant military-historical book projects of recent years. Vladimir Medinsky noted the high importance of the work done by Belarusian historians and wished further successful development of Russian-Belarusian cooperation. Igor Lutsky wished good luck to Russian and Belarusian historians in an important undertaking, the creation of the EAC. During the meeting, the charter, the approval of symbols, the immediate plans of the EAC, the expansion of joint publication activity of scientists of the two countries, the formation of a Russian-Belarusian pool of expert researchers, concrete steps aimed at strengthening the historical unity of Russia and Belarus were discussed.
