16th Belarusian-Russian scientific conference to be held on Modern Problems of Book Culture: Main Trends and Development Prospects

On November 22–23, 2023, the Business and Cultural Complex of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation will host the XVI Belarusian-Russian Scientific Conference Modern Problems of Book Culture: Main Trends and Development Prospects, held within the framework of the activities of the International Association of the Academies of Sciences. The Scientific Forum is traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation, its Business and Cultural Complex. The organizers are: the NAS of Belarus (the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the NAS of Belarus, the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Belarus) and the Russian Academy of Sciences (the Scientific and Publishing Center Science of the Russian Academy of Sciences).

The Belarusian-Russian scientific conference will be attended by scientists and leading specialists from academies of sciences, major educational institutions, museums, archives, libraries of Belarus and Russia, Azerbaijan. The conference gathers historians, philologists, cultural scientists, art experts, psychologists, book critics, publishers – representatives of various scientific schools and research areas. It is planned to discuss a wide range of issues with an interdisciplinary approach related to historical memory and book culture as a factor of its formation, the information culture of the individual and society as a whole, reading, its transformation and socio-cultural consequences, from the point of view of value and ideological aspects, the history of book and manuscript collections, archival documents, the existence of rare old printed publications, art in the space of book culture. A significant role in the formation of historical memory, the development of society belongs to creation of biographies and encyclopedias, electronic national resources.
