On December 27, the NAS of Belarus hosted a meeting of the Council on Strategic Projects under the President of the Republic of Belarus. The highest officials of the country, heads, specialists of state bodies and specialized organizations took part in its work.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Council on Strategic Projects under the President of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov noted that on the eve of the first meeting, requests were sent to senior officials and heads of government agencies. Over the past month, the Council has received more than 60 project proposals. All of them are included in the Register. However, most of the proposals are at the level of ideas. For the coming 2024, Vladimir Gusakov noted, it is necessary to determine a kind of Top 10 project initiatives. They will form the basis of the annual Work Plan of the Council.

"The unconditional priority of the Council is the strict and high-quality fulfillment of the instructions of the Head of State. The starting point, the “start", of the practical activities of the Council is intended to be the consideration of issue No. 1 of the meeting Agenda: on the creation of a mobile telecommunications network of the IMT-2020 (5G) standard in the country. This is a relevant technological direction in the world. Its implementation is in line with such global trends as the 4th Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), full-scale digitalization, robotics and artificial intelligence. The main thing: this is one of the components of the IT country, which was set up by the President of the Republic of Belarus," Vladimir Gusakov stressed.

Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus Konstantin Shulgan and Andrey Pavlyuchenko, Head of the Operations and Analysis Center under the President of the Republic of Belarus, presented their reports on the identified areas, spoke on the main problematic aspects and ways to solve them. As is known, in Belarus, the main regulators in the field of creation and operation of mobile telecommunication networks are the Ministry of Communications and Informatization, as well as the Operations and Analysis Center under the President of the Republic of Belarus. At the meeting of the Council on Strategic Projects, the heads of "operating" organizations spoke, such as Beltelecom, Belarusian Cloud Technologies (beCloud), mobile operators, etc.

Following the meeting, it was decided to analyze and summarize all the information contained in the reports and speeches. The prepared materials will be sent to the Government for consideration at the Presidium of the Council of Ministers and further sending the results of the consideration to the Head of State.

The meeting of the Council on Strategic Projects under the President of the Republic of Belarus approved the main criteria and indicators for classifying projects as strategic. The heads of state bodies are recommended to apply criteria in the preparation of project initiatives.
