Academician Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, congratulates the scientific community on the New Year 2024 and the Christmas

Dear colleagues! Dear friends!

The year 2023 goes down in history. A year that brought new achievements and discoveries, a year of strengthening the positions won and further development.

In 2023, we duly celebrated the 95th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the 30th anniversary of the International Association of the Academies of Sciences. The exhibition of scientific and technical achievements Intellectual Belarus, organized on behalf of the Head of State, was held with great success in the capital and regions of the country. The unique exposition of the developments and achievements of scientists has received well-deserved resonance in society and high marks. Now our exhibition is in Moscow, at VDNKh, and Russian visitors are also delighted there. Over the past year, the Academy's scientists have been developing new materials and technologies, introducing developments into production, conducting urgent opinion polls, discussing measures to preserve and promote the history of our country, promptly developing recipes for new products, releasing milestone book editions, exploring far Antarctica. And this is a far from complete list of everything that has been done in a year.

Domestic scientists have become laureates of many competitions, have been awarded prestigious prizes and state awards. Such awards are a vivid confirmation of the thesis that if a person works productively in our country and gives tangible results, his work does not go unnoticed. In 2023, the intellectual elite got a new symbol – the Golden Ring of Belarusian Science, where the ideas of the continuity of scientific achievements in different historical periods on the Belarusian lands were embodied.

The detailed results of 2023 – the Year of Peace and Creation – will be announced later. But now we can say that the targets have been met. However, there is a lot of hard work ahead. The main task is to increase the scientific and technical potential of the country, accelerate the introduction of in-demand developments into the real sector of the economy, and increase the activity of science in all sectors. We must devote all our efforts to this. On these holidays, I would like to once again say warm words of gratitude to the scientists, through whose efforts our country is actively developing today and occupies a worthy place in the world scientific space. Thanks to everyone who is related to Belarusian science and worked for our common "scientific loaf"!

Dear friends! On behalf of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate you on the New Year 2024 and the bright holiday of the Nativity of Christ. I sincerely wish you all good health, inexhaustible ideas and success in all your affairs!

If we will be able to change the life around us for the better, than we will become better ourselves: more empathetic and merciful, patient and generous. Do not leave your family and friends without care every day of the next year.

Give each other joy, kindness and love!

May our native Belarus grow stronger and prosper!

Let your plans come true!

Happy New Year to you, dear friends!

Respectfully,

Vladimir GUSAKOV,
Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS of Belarus, Academician
