On April 23, 2024 at 10.00 a.m. in Minsk at the Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, Akademika Kuprevicha str., 2, assembly hall) the opening of the I International Scientific and Practical Conference Innovative Biotechnologies For Environmental Protection: From Theory To Practice will take place.

The conference will be attended by more than 150 representatives of scientific organizations of the Republic of Belarus, the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as representatives of industrial enterprises (environmentalists, technologists, specialists of sewage treatment plants, etc.). The first specialized forum in the field of microbial environmental technologies will bring together well-known scientists, young researchers, specialists in the field of environmental protection and representatives of environmental companies from Belarus and foreign countries in Minsk to assess the current state of affairs, identify priorities and promising areas for further development.

On April 23–25, the forum will present information on the latest achievements and global trends in the field of fundamental and applied microbiology aimed at minimizing and preventing environmental damage as a result of industrial and other human activities, modern approaches to the creation of biological products for environmental protection, agriculture, food industry and other industries. The prospects for the effective transformation of scientific research and inventions into innovations and the introduction of high-tech biotechnologies into the real sector of the economy will be discussed.

The conference program includes more than 60 oral reports on 5 sections Phylogenetic Diversity and Metabolic Potential of Xenobiotic Destructor Microorganisms; Biotechnology of Wastewater Treatment and Water Treatment; Soil Microbiology and Bioremediation of Technogenically Polluted Territories; Microbial Processing, Neutralization and Disposal of Organic Waste; Biomonitoring, Bioindication and Biosensors.

Within the framework of the conference, an exhibition of products from domestic and foreign enterprises will be organized in order to present the latest developments for environmental protection, as well as suppliers of environmental protection equipment and reagents for environmental protection. A special platform will also be equipped where participants will be able to exchange printed materials demonstrating the results of their environmental developments.

The International Scientific and Practical Conference Innovative Biotechnologies For Environmental Protection: From Theory To Practice is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Laboratory of Environmental Biotechnologies of the Institute of Microbiology of the NAS of Belarus. The laboratory is a leading developer of competitive, environmentally friendly technologies for cleaning polluted natural and industrial environments in the Republic of Belarus. The scientific school of xenobiotics biodegradation, established in 1994 by Doctor of Biology, Professor Alisa S. Samsonova, is successfully developing on the basis of the laboratory. The scientific research carried out in the department and the technologies being developed correspond to the world standards, and the resulting biological products often have no analogues. The scientific and practical activities of the laboratory are known both in the Republic of Belarus and abroad.
