Delegation of the NAS of Belarus takes part in the launch of the Chinese lunar probe Chang'E-6

The delegation of the NAS of Belarus, consisting of Chief Scientific Secretary Vasily Gursky and Director of the Geoinformation Systems Company Sergey Zolotoy, took part in the launch of the Chinese lunar probe Chang'E-6 at the cosmodrome in Haikou (China) on May 3, 2024. In preparation for the launch, a conference was held where representatives of the participating countries of the Chinese Lunar Program (China, France, Italy, Pakistan, etc.) spoke about the preparation of the lunar probe and the flight program. The delegation of the NAS of Belarus also held talks with representatives of the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA) and Roscosmos on the prospects of Belarus' participation in lunar exploration programs.

For reference: China launched the Chang'E-6 probe to deliver soil from the far side of the Moon. The entire mission will take 53 days, the probe should deliver about two kilograms of soil to Earth. If everything goes well, then samples from the far side of the Moon will be able to be "extracted" for the first time in the history of mankind. China hopes to collect soil samples on the far side of the moon that are about 4 billion years old, the National Space Administration said. The geological age of the samples collected by the USA and the USSR was about three billion.
