Belarusian scientist Ivan Saverchanka honored with Stars of Commonwealth Award

22.08.2017 Ivan Saverchanka, a Belarusian scientist-philologist, the director of the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and a member of The Presidium of the Union of Writers of Belarus, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, has been honored with the interstate Stars of Commonwealth Award. Information was provided by the official letter from the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation. Ivan Saverchanka received the award following the decision of the 2016 Commonwealth Stars Council. The solemn award ceremony will take place in Moscow.

Ivan Saverchanka is a famous scientist-philologist, an author of numerous historical novels and essays about prominent personalities of Belarus. His books are widely used for teaching students in the CIS countries. Ivan Saverchanka is an author of 114 scientific publications about philology, history and philosophy, including eight monographs. He prepared seven editions of monuments of the Belarusian written language and literature from the 10th century to the first half of the 20th century that were collected and adapted for the Russian-speaking reader for the first time.

The Stars of the Commonwealth Award, established by the CIS Humanitarian Cooperation Council and the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, is bestowed in recognition of the the most significant achievements in humanitarian activities that meet the world level and promote the development of every CIS member state and the Commonwealth of Independent States in general. The award is presented in three nominations: for achievements in science and education, culture and art, and humanitarian activities. In each of the three categories is awarded up to three prizes.
