On 23 November 2017, at 10:00 a.m., the Thirteenth International Scientific Conference “Modern Problems of Lexicography” or “Lex2017”, dedicated to the Second Congress of Scientists, will be opened at the Yakub Kolas Institute of Linguistics of the NAS of Belarus (Minsk, vul. Surhanava ½).
The forum is organized by the Center for the Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature Research of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Yanka Kupala Grodno University, the Alpen-Adria Institute of Slavic Studies (Austria), the Institute for Linguistic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Russian Studies of the Warsaw University, the Kharkov Lexicographical Society, and others. More than 100 scientists from different countries, including Austria, Georgia, Russia, Ukraine, etc., will take part in the conference on November 23-24, 2017. The participation of specialists in the field of information technology, in addition to linguists, also demonstrates the relevance of the conference and its interdisciplinary character.
The conference is scheduled to discuss fundamental aspects of lexicography; problems of the development of various types and genres of dictionaries; innovative lexicographic projects; practical aspects of lexicographic activity in modern conditions. The main attention will be focused on such areas as computer and corpus technologies in lexicography; lexicographic prognostics; dictionary projects; terminological, historical, dialect, author lexicography; use of dictionaries for scientific and educational purposes; the methodology of Slavic lexicography and terminography and development of recommendations on enhancing work in these fields.
Within the framework of the forum, an exhibition-presentation of the most significant works by Belarusian lexicographers, created recently, will be held. In particular, the Explanatory Dictionary of the Belarusian Literary Language, the Historical Dictionary of the Belarusian Language in 37 issues, the Orthoepic Dictionary of the Belarusian Language, etc. will be presented.
